There are always a few days every month when women cannot do strenuous exercise, because these days are the menstrual period. Most women will experience mild lower abdominal distension and pain. If they do strenuous exercise, the lower abdominal distension and pain may be aggravated. Moreover, most female friends will experience some physical discomfort after doing strenuous exercise. So what are the consequences of women doing strenuous exercise during their menstrual period?

Vigorous exercise can increase intra-abdominal pressure, causing the abdomen to vibrate violently. Over time, this can cause menstrual irregularities, and may also cause dysmenorrhea, excessive menstrual bleeding, or changes in the position of the uterus.

1. It can cause gynecological diseases and menstrual abnormalities. The reason is that strenuous exercise can inhibit the function of the hypothalamus, cause endocrine system dysfunction, affect the normal level of sex hormones in the body, and thus interfere with the formation and cycle of normal menstruation.

2. Ovarian rupture. Vigorous activities, lifting heavy objects, abdominal compression, collision, etc. can cause ovarian rupture.

3. Vulvar trauma, uterine prolapse, and strenuous exercise can increase abdominal pressure and cause the uterus to temporarily descend.

4. Endometriosis: Vigorous exercise during menstruation can cause menstrual blood to flow back from the uterine cavity into the pelvic cavity. The endometrial debris flowing with the menstrual blood may be implanted on the ovaries and form cysts.

During menstruation, it is advisable to participate in some relaxing and habitual sports, such as jogging, gymnastics, boxing, table tennis, badminton and other sports. Pay attention to shortening the exercise time, slowing down the pace, doing what you can, reducing the amount of exercise, and playing a positive and healthy role.

How should women exercise during menstruation?

During menstruation, many women experience physical discomfort. Therefore, three days before your period, you can decide the form of exercise according to your own situation, focusing on gentle, soothing, relaxing and stretching exercises, such as meditative yoga, elementary body gymnastics, or just doing some simple stretching exercises at home. These light exercises help the blood flow smoothly in the body and relieve stress. During exercise, be sure to avoid putting pressure on the abdominal cavity and avoid raising the legs too high. If you feel tired or notice a sudden increase or decrease in bleeding, stop exercising immediately.

On the fifth day of the menstrual period, the body begins to recover and you can start doing aerobic exercises such as slow walking and jogging. However, you should still avoid some ball games and heavy weight sports.
