The difference between the off-duty phenomenon and menstruation

Normal women have regular menstruation every month. Menstruation is the process of the uterus excreting toxins. During menstruation, the uterine wall of women falls off and menstrual blood flows out of the vagina. This process should normally last for three to five days. Menstruation is also the most vulnerable period for women and the period when the uterus is most susceptible to infection. However, there are many other situations in life that are similar to menstruation, such as going off work. Let's take a look at the differences between them.

Reason 1: Fertilized egg implantation is unstable

[General situation] Menstruation is the bleeding phenomenon caused by the necrosis and shedding of the endometrium after ovulation. In a sense, the arrival of menstruation is the preparation of the female uterus for pregnancy. Under normal circumstances, if the fertilized egg successfully implants into the endometrium, the woman will not ovulate, and this kind of preparation will no longer be necessary. Therefore, menstruation will generally stop during pregnancy.

[Special circumstances] Because the fertilized egg is not yet stable after implantation and the placenta has not formed, and the menstrual period is approaching or has arrived, a mature egg will still be discharged and then shed out of the body along with the endometrium, causing a small number of pregnant women to think they are having their "menstruation".

Reason 2: Endometrial shedding

[General situation] After a woman becomes pregnant, her ovaries will secrete a large amount of progesterone, estrogen, etc. to promote the thickening of the endometrium, thereby providing a fertile "soil" for the implantation and growth of the fertilized egg. At this time, as the levels of estrogen and progesterone in women's bodies continue to increase, the endometrium will no longer shed, and women will no longer have menstruation.

Women of childbearing age all have common physiological laws, such as menstruation, but each person's menstrual cycle is different, and there are large individual differences. Some people have not yet completed one cycle, while others have already experienced two cycles.

Although there are large differences in menstrual cycles, the lifespan of the corpus luteum is relatively stable. The time it takes for the corpus luteum to form, mature and atrophy is about 14 days, which is the same for everyone, with an error of no more than 2 days. As long as you know the day you ovulate, you will definitely get your period around 14 days later, just like if you set a time to get off work at 5pm, you will definitely get off work when the time comes!

In fact, there are many cases where women experience spotting during their normal menstrual period after becoming pregnant. This is mainly caused by the late implantation of the fertilized egg and the late appearance of HCG.

The life span of the corpus luteum is generally 12 to 16 days, with an average of 14 days. 7 to 8 days after ovulation, the corpus luteum reaches its peak development. 9 to 10 days after ovulation, the corpus luteum begins to atrophy, the blood vessels decrease, the cells undergo fatty degeneration, the yellow color fades, and menstruation occurs after the corpus luteum declines. The earliest that the fertilized egg implants is the 6th day after ovulation, and the latest is around the 10th day after ovulation. It takes another 2 to 3 days for the fertilized egg to implant and produce higher levels of HCG, which is the 12th or 13th day after ovulation.
