Symptoms of ovarian hyperstimulation

Symptoms of ovarian hyperstimulation

There is a disease in life called ovarian hypersensitivity syndrome, which is also called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. It refers to an allergic reaction to ovulation drugs. Because many pregnant women will experience infertility, most people will choose to use IVF to help themselves get pregnant. Before IVF, women should use some drugs to promote ovulation. So what are the symptoms of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome?

Overstimulated ovarian syndrome (OHSS) is an overreaction of the body to ovulation-inducing drugs and is common during IVF cycles or after ovulation induction treatment in women with ovulatory disorders. A complication characterized by bilateral ovarian multifollicular development, ovarian enlargement, abnormal capillary permeability, and acute extravasation of fluid and protein into the third space, causing a series of clinical symptoms.

1. Common high-risk groups

1. Young patients with good ovarian function and ovarian over-response: Young patients have a large number of follicles that can be recruited, and the density of gonadotropin receptors on the surface of the follicles is high, making them easily sensitive to Gn (gonadotropin).

2. Thin women: For thin women, the drug concentration per unit body surface area or body weight of the same dose of drug is higher, and their blood volume is smaller, so the symptoms of fluid exudation are more severe.

3. Women with polycystic ovary changes (PCO) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): They have a large number of antral follicles, which can develop and mature under the stimulation of ovulation-inducing drugs, and the blood LH/FSH>2, which can affect the conversion of androgens to estrogens and lead to hyperandrogenemia. Androgens are the single risk factor for OHSS.

4. Those with low Doppler ovarian vascular resistance index detected by color Doppler ultrasound.

5. Patients who have had OHSS before: Once OHSS occurs, the second ovulation induction is also likely to increase the risk of OHSS. The next time you stimulate ovulation, you should carefully choose the ovulation induction plan, closely observe the situation, and do preventive treatment in advance.

6. Patients with a history of allergies: Studies have shown that about 50% of patients who eventually develop severe OHSS have a history of allergies.
