Brown blood during menstruation

Brown blood during menstruation

If brown vaginal discharge occurs during menstruation, it is sometimes normal, but sometimes it should be taken seriously. For example, if sexual intercourse is too intense, it may cause tearing of the vaginal wall, which can easily lead to vaginal bleeding. Other gynecological diseases can also easily cause brown vaginal discharge, such as endometriosis.

Brown blood during menstruation

1. First time sexual intercourse or sexual intercourse that is too hasty or too violent

The vaginal wall is not fully expanded, which can easily cause vaginal wall tears. This situation is more common among young girls who have eaten the forbidden fruit. Generally speaking, a woman's vagina is elastic, has many vertical and horizontal folds, is easy to expand, and will not tear. The vagina of a young girl is not yet fully developed. If she is too nervous during her first sexual intercourse, her muscles will contract and she will use too much force, which can easily cause tearing.

2. It may be physiological or pathological

Vaginal bleeding between periods after the menstrual period is over may be physiological or pathological. The most common of the former is vaginal bleeding during ovulation, which is characterized by mild lower abdominal pain and discomfort during a small amount of bleeding, and basal body temperature changes during ovulation. The latter is characterized by cervical erosion, polyps or cervical cancer, especially when it occurs frequently after sexual intercourse. This is because the contact and friction of the sexual organs cause damage and congestion to the affected area, resulting in blood exudation.

3. Menstruation does not come on time

Vaginal bleeding occurs 7-10 days later. At this time, it is necessary to distinguish whether it is vaginal bleeding caused by menstruation or pathology. The former is similar to the regularity of previous menstruation. The latter has no such pattern, with the flow sometimes more and sometimes less, but constantly. If accompanied by abdominal pain, you should pay more attention, because this situation is more common in ectopic pregnancy or threatened abortion.

4. Endometriosis

The amount of menstrual blood increases, the duration is longer, and the dysmenorrhea is more obvious. This situation is more common in uterine fibroids or endometriosis.

5. Intrauterine inflammation

If you have had normal menstruation in the past but have recently had continuous bleeding, it is mostly caused by disease and needs to be checked out in time. Most of the possible causes are uterine inflammation or cancer. If after a natural or artificial abortion, vaginal bleeding usually stops within 3-7 days, and normal menstruation resumes after one month. However, if the above-mentioned continuous vaginal bleeding occurs, it is likely that there is residual fetal membrane tissue in the uterus. If this is the case, it should be removed by curettage as soon as possible, otherwise the residual fetal membrane tissue may turn into choriocarcinoma after a period of time. In addition, it may also be caused by intrauterine infection or cervical injury, which can be easily diagnosed through further examination.

6. Women who have had hydatidiform mole

The condition has improved after treatment and menstruation has returned to normal. If abnormal, heavy vaginal bleeding occurs again within two years, it may be an early symptom of malignant hydatidiform mole. Do not delay diagnosis.

7. Postmenopausal women

There are two possibilities for vaginal bleeding, especially after the age of 60. For some women who still have sex, due to the endocrine changes after menopause, the vagina is dry, which is easy to be damaged by friction and bleeding during sex. Therefore, if there is a feeling of dryness during intercourse, a small amount of ointment (such as tetracycline ointment) should be applied on the male glans before intercourse, which can reduce this mechanical damage and improve the sexual effect of both parties.
