Can bacterial vaginosis cause ovarian cancer?

Can bacterial vaginosis cause ovarian cancer?

Ovarian epithelial cancer is a very scary gynecological disease in women. It develops very quickly, and it only takes half a year to go from early stage to late stage. Many patients with ovarian epithelial cancer are diagnosed in the late stages, at which point the best time for treatment has been missed. There are many causes of ovarian epithelial cancer. So, can bacterial vaginosis cause ovarian epithelial cancer?

Bacterial vaginosis is very common. It is only a local inflammation and will not lead to ovarian epithelial cancer, but it can cause menstrual irregularities. For vaginitis, local medication is still the main treatment. You can use nifuratel and nystatin soft capsules, or apply compound phellodendron chinense liquid for external cleaning.

Epithelial carcinoma is the most common ovarian malignancy, followed by malignant germ cell tumors. Among them, the mortality rate of ovarian epithelial cancer ranks first among all types of gynecological tumors, posing a serious threat to women's lives. Because the ovaries are deep in the pelvic cavity, are small in size, and lack typical symptoms, they are difficult to detect early. During surgery for patients with ovarian epithelial cancer, it is found that the tumor is confined to the ovaries in less than 30% of cases, while the majority have spread to the pelvic and abdominal organs, so early diagnosis is a major challenge.

The cause of ovarian malignant tumors is still unclear and may be related to the following factors: ① Genetic factors, especially when there are patients with ovarian cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, etc. in the family, the risk of ovarian cancer in relatives may increase. ② Endocrine factors, such as early menarche and no reproductive history.

Epithelial ovarian cancer is more common in postmenopausal women, while malignant germ cell tumors are more common in adolescents or young women.

How to prevent ovarian epithelial cancer?

1. Regular physical examinations, such as blood CA125, transvaginal ultrasound, etc.

2. Oral contraceptives.

3. Correctly handle pelvic masses.

4. Preventive salpingo-oophorectomy: For BRCA gene germline mutation carriers who have no fertility needs, preventive surgery can be considered after consulting a gynecological oncologist.
