Light bleeding before menstruation

Light bleeding before menstruation

For women, many related aspects such as the time of menstruation and the status of menstruation can reflect whether women are healthy or not. A healthy mature woman tends to have a relatively fixed menstrual period every month, and the menstrual discharge is red blood-like substance, and there is no pain during menstruation. However, many women experience a small amount of bleeding from their lower body before menstruation. What is the reason for this?

Premenstrual bleeding

What causes premenstrual bleeding? Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, contact bleeding, and ovulation bleeding can all lead to premenstrual bleeding. Pathological causes of non-menstrual bleeding must be excluded.

Married women, regardless of whether they suffer from gynecological diseases or not, should undergo regular gynecological examinations so that gynecological diseases such as cervical cancer and uterine fibroids can be detected and treated in a timely manner.

1. Functional uterine bleeding (abbreviated as DUB)

This disease is very common in clinical practice, mainly caused by abnormal neuroendocrine function regulating reproduction. Its manifestations are usually irregular menstrual cycles, excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation or irregular bleeding. The principle of treatment is to stop bleeding quickly, adjust and establish a normal menstrual cycle after stopping bleeding, and prevent recurrence.

2. Uterine fibroids

Vaginal bleeding is a common symptom of uterine fibroids, which manifests as irregular menstruation, increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, irregular vaginal bleeding, etc. In severe cases, even anemia symptoms may occur. The occurrence of uterine fibroids is related to female sex hormones. Regular health check-ups are the best way to detect uterine fibroids as early as possible.

3. Contact bleeding

That is, bleeding due to contact with the cervix after sexual intercourse or after a gynecological examination. Cervical columnar epithelium migration, cervical polyps, cervical cancer, cervical warts, etc. can all cause contact bleeding. Therefore, women should improve their awareness of reproductive tract hygiene, undergo regular gynecological examinations, and seek early treatment if any disease is discovered.

4. Ovulation bleeding

If bleeding occurs suddenly about 14 days before menstruation, and the bleeding may last for 2-3 days but not more than 7 days; or occurs in the middle period between two menstrual periods, it can be considered as ovulation bleeding. This is due to a temporary drop in estrogen levels, which causes the endometrium to lose hormonal support and partially shed, causing regular vaginal bleeding.

Precautions for premenstrual bleeding

Non-menstrual bleeding is mostly a pathological phenomenon. For safety reasons, it is best to go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible to avoid delaying the disease. In daily life, we should also:

1. Pay attention to rest and drink plenty of water to help digestion and make bowel movements smooth.

2. Live a regular life, avoid overwork, and keep away from cold and damp. Prevent excessive dieting, quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption. Pay attention to your diet structure, eat more lean meat, cereals, dark green leafy vegetables and calcium-rich foods, and avoid eating too much raw or cold food. Keep a good mood, strengthen exercise and improve physical fitness.

3. Women with heavy bleeding can take in appropriate amounts of high-fiber foods such as spinach, candied dates, red vegetables (vegetables with red soup), raisins, etc. to replenish blood. If necessary, seek medical attention promptly to avoid excessive blood loss.

4. Foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, whole wheat bread, brown rice, oats, etc. contain more fiber, which can promote the secretion of estrogen, increase the magnesium content in the blood, and have the effect of regulating menstruation and calming nerves.

Premenstrual symptoms

Before menstruation, many healthy women will also experience some discomfort and temperament changes, such as a feeling of pelvic heaviness, back pain, headache, breast swelling, edema, irritability, and anger, which is called premenstrual discomfort. The disease is generally mild and does not require treatment. But some women have severe symptoms that affect their work and life, which is called premenstrual syndrome.

Generally speaking, symptoms before menstruation include:

1. Mainly mental symptoms: common symptoms include nervous sensitivity, irritability, general fatigue, and sometimes headaches, insomnia, and lack of concentration.

2. Mainly physical symptoms: common symptoms include swelling of hands, feet and face, abdominal bloating, some women feel bloating, most women have constipation, lower abdominal pain and breast pain, etc.
