The pregnancy test stick was one dark and one light for two consecutive days

A pregnancy test stick is a tool used to preliminarily detect whether you are pregnant. Many people use pregnancy test sticks to find out whether they are pregnant. Generally speaking, if two red lines appear on the pregnancy test stick, it means that you are pregnant. However, if there are two lines on the pregnancy test stick, but one is light and the other is dark, it means there is a fifty percent probability. Below, we will introduce you to the relevant knowledge about pregnancy test sticks in detail.

1. What does it mean when one dark and one light color appear on the pregnancy test stick?

Generally speaking, there are several situations in which the color of the pregnancy test stick appears:

1. Only one control line appears on the pregnancy test stick: it means you are not pregnant.

2. Two lines appear on the pregnancy test stick, that is, the control line and the test line are both colored, and the test line is obvious and clear: it means that you are pregnant.

3. No control line appears on the pregnancy test stick within 5 minutes: It means the test is invalid or failed.

4. One dark and one light color on the pregnancy test stick: Generally speaking, if the control line is clear and the test line is very light, it means you may be pregnant, but it does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. In this case, you need to retest with a new pregnancy test stick and first-morning urine every two days.

So, if one dark line on the pregnancy test stick is lighter than the other, it means you may be pregnant, but don’t be too happy too soon, because it may also mean you are not pregnant. The probability is 50% each.

2. Are pregnancy test sticks accurate?

The pregnancy test stick is an early pregnancy detection tool that is familiar to many young women. Its biggest advantage compared with other pregnancy test tools is that it allows female friends to know whether they are pregnant at home without going to the hospital. The principle of pregnancy test stick is to quantitatively detect the content of human chorionic gonadotropin in urine to determine whether the woman is pregnant.

Generally speaking, the accuracy rate of pregnancy test sticks from regular brands is about 85% to 95%.

Therefore, pregnancy test sticks are not 100% accurate. Not to mention that one dark and one light line on the pregnancy test stick does not mean that you are really pregnant. Even if two lines are detected, sometimes it does not necessarily mean that you are really pregnant.

If you want to confirm whether you are really pregnant, you still have to go to the hospital for more accurate examination!

3. How long does it take for a pregnancy test stick to detect whether or not you are pregnant?

Ovulation occurs around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. Assuming fertilization is successful at this time, it will take at least 6 or 7 days for the fertilized egg to produce HCG. Pregnancy test sticks are determined by testing urine HCG. HCG actually starts to be secreted in large quantities after the fertilized egg implants, and the syncytial trophoblast begins to secrete large amounts of HCG. It takes at least 11 days for the fertilized egg to implant. Therefore, it only takes 6 days at the earliest to use a pregnancy test stick to detect whether you are pregnant or not. Of course, if you want to be more accurate, wait 11 days, then it will be more accurate.

The pregnancy (positive) result can be read after 1 minute (30 seconds at the fastest), which means that if two lines are clearly shown after 1 minute of testing, it indicates a pregnancy (positive) result and there is no need to wait for 3 minutes before reading.

The result of not being pregnant must be confirmed after 3 minutes. This is because in the early stages of pregnancy, the HCG hormone content in the urine is very low, and a weakly positive result may appear during the test. The weakly positive result may not be displayed after 1 minute. As the reaction time increases, it will take 3 minutes for two lines to appear. At this time, the appearance of two lines should still be interpreted as a pregnancy (positive) result. If there is still only one control line after 3 minutes, it can be judged as a not being pregnant (negative) result.
