Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Male pubic hair is attached to the skin of the female vulva from the mons pubis to the outside of the labia majora. In daily life, because the vulva is easily contaminated with urine, feces and secretions, the skin of the vulva is often in a humid environment, and this humid environment is very suitable for the growth of bacteria. The disease is common in the head, neck, buttocks, around the anus or other parts of the body, and has a tendency to relapse, often occurring in multiple places, with characteristics that are difficult to eliminate and changes that are difficult to cure. In addition, the level of estrogen in women's bodies during menopause decreases, which leads to a decrease in the immunity of the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva. Therefore, if menopausal women do not pay attention to the hygiene of their vulva or have abrasions on the vulva skin, the hair follicles and surrounding tissues at this point are easily infected by bacteria, leading to vulvar folliculitis. In the early stages of the disease, symptoms such as pain and redness of the skin may occur in the affected hair follicles and the surrounding areas. As the disease progresses, the affected hair follicles may gradually develop reddish pustules around them and feel painful. A hair may appear at the top of the abscess (if there is pus, a white dot may appear at the top of the abscess). Sometimes there is one hair follicle or sometimes there are multiple hair follicles that are infected. If the inflammation gets worse, the infected hair follicles may develop boils. Causes of folliculitis Folliculitis of the genitals is often caused by low immunity, poor vulva hygiene, secondary bacterial infection (mostly Staphylococcus aureus infection), or damage caused by the expansion, friction, and scratching of the hair. Bacterial infection, sleep quality, diet, environment, gastrointestinal tract, sebaceous gland secretion, physical fitness, vitamin deficiency and other factors are all factors that affect it. This is also the cause of folliculitis. If you suffer from folliculitis, you should keep your vagina clean and bathe frequently. Alcohol, spicy food and other stimulating foods are allowed. Eat more foods containing vitamins, nutrients and high protein. Folliculitis symptoms Symptoms of female folliculitis include redness, swelling and pain around the hair follicles in the private parts of the body, and gradually form a cone-shaped pustules with a protruding pubic hair at its center. Pustules can be multiple, and adjacent small pustules can combine to form large pustules, accompanied by severe hematoma, edema and pain in the private parts. |
