Can breast cancer patients drink milk?

Many studies have found that consuming milk can reduce the risk of colon cancer, and the reason seems to be related to the calcium content in milk. However, studies have also confirmed that consuming milk increases the risk of prostate cancer, endometrial cancer, testicular cancer, and ovarian cancer, but the association is not very strong. Whole milk contains saturated fat, which is associated with cardiovascular disease and many cancers.

Milk Consumption and Breast Cancer Many studies have attempted to find a link between milk consumption and the risk of developing breast cancer, but unfortunately the results are inconsistent. Some population-based studies have found no association between milk consumption and breast cancer risk, however, several large population-based studies have shown a definite association between milk intake and breast cancer risk. This divergent result may be because milk contains both beneficial and harmful substances that are associated with breast cancer.

The main components of cow's milk include calcium, vitamin D, polyether salts, lactase, conjugated linoleic acid and bovine ferritin. These components have been found in the laboratory to induce apoptosis of breast tumor cells, reduce the size of breast tumors and the incidence of breast tumors. In fact, it has been found that consuming milk in infancy and childhood has an inhibitory effect on the occurrence of breast cancer in the future and has a slight protective effect on the breasts.

The scientific research on whether adults are suitable for consuming milk seems to be something that cannot be ignored. A study on carcinogen-induced breast tumors in adult rats found that if the rats' uterus and ovaries were removed, the number and size of breast tumors in the rats would decrease, but if the ovariectomized rats were fed cow's milk, the incidence of breast tumors caused by carcinogens, as well as the number and size of tumors, would increase. Both skim milk and skim milk increased the incidence and size of carcinogen-induced mammary tumors in rats.

Several studies have found that a high intake of livestock fat can increase mammary gland density, which is also a risk factor for the development and onset of breast cancer. In addition, a study found that a viral infection that is common in foreign dairy factories, namely bovine sepsis virus infection, can cause breast cancer. Many scholars remind us that the milk we consume today is produced by pregnant cows, which contains very high levels of estrogen and estrogens. It is worth pointing out that other abnormal carcinogenic factors in milk include: saturated fat, recombinant bovine growth factor (rBGH), insulin glargine growth factor, fertilizers and polychlorinated biphenyls, etc., and the intake of these ingredients should also be avoided.

Additional Notes

Unpasteurized milk may be contaminated with pathogens, which may affect human health when consumed, but it does not seem to increase the risk of cancer. Yogurt, a fermented milk drink, may increase the risk of breast cancer.
