What does placenta level one plus mean?

The placenta is used to provide nutrition to the baby. As the pregnancy lasts longer, the placenta will grow from immature to mature, and finally even age and be unable to provide more nutrition to the baby. The sign of placental maturity is to see what level the placenta is at during the test. According to normal habits, the placenta is divided into four grades. What does placenta grade one plus mean?

The placenta will gradually mature as the pregnancy progresses. When it matures to a certain extent, its function will decline, just like aging, and it will be unable to provide nutrition and oxygen to the fetus normally:

There are four levels of placental maturity: 0, 1, 2, and 3.

Grade 0 indicates that the placenta is not yet mature: usually in the second trimester, around 12-28 weeks of pregnancy.

Level 1 marks the early stage of placental maturity: 30-32 weeks of pregnancy, the early stage of placental maturity, can also transmit nutrients to the fetus.

Level 2 indicates that the placenta is mature: generally after 36 weeks of pregnancy, the placenta is close to being mature.

Level 3 indicates that the placenta has aged. Due to calcification and cellulose deposition, the placenta's ability to transport oxygen and nutrients is reduced, and the fetus is in danger at any time.

The maturity of each person's placenta is different: mid-pregnancy (12-28 weeks) - placenta grade 0; late pregnancy (30-32 weeks) - placenta grade 1; after 36 weeks - placenta grade 2 (relatively mature). If a grade 3 placenta is found before 37 weeks and combined with the value of the biparietal diameter and the estimated fetal weight of 2500 grams, placental precocity should be considered and the patient should be alert to the possibility of intrauterine growth retardation. At 38 weeks, the placenta enters stage 3, indicating that the placenta is mature.

Placental maturity level 1

The placenta function is divided into 3 levels. Level 1 is the best and can provide good nutrition to the baby. Level 2 placenta begins to age, but it will not affect fetal absorption. Level 3 placenta means that the baby is about to be delivered.

Generally, the placenta reaches level 1 maturity between 30 and 32 weeks of gestation.

In the early stages of pregnancy, the biggest concern clinically is that the function of the placenta will age as the time passes. In other words, the longer the time passes, the greater the possibility of placental aging. If the placenta ages, it will not provide enough nutrients and oxygen to the fetus, which may cause fetal hypoxia. If the fetus is deprived of oxygen, it is likely to die in the womb or develop brain damage after birth.

Generally speaking, after 36 weeks of pregnancy, the placenta reaches level 2 maturity, indicating that the placenta has begun to mature. However, the placenta can mature prematurely. If a grade 3 placenta is found before 37 weeks and combined with the value of the biparietal diameter and the estimated fetal weight of 2500 grams, precocious placenta should be considered and the possibility of intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus should be alerted.
