Causes of low platelets in late pregnancy

Low platelet count in pregnant women has a great impact on their bodies. Low platelet count in pregnant women can be divided into primary and secondary types, which are generally caused by low immune system, viral infection, non-coagulation of blood vessels and other reasons. In this situation, you should pay attention and seek medical examination and treatment in time to avoid worsening of the condition and affecting the baby's development and growth.

Essential thrombocytopenia during pregnancy

Although essential thrombocytopenia of pregnancy also belongs to thrombocytopenia, the degree of thrombocytopenia is very mild and is a normal phenomenon for women during pregnancy. In primary thrombocytopenia during pregnancy, the platelet count is generally controlled within (70-100)*109/L, because the blood volume increases during pregnancy, the blood is diluted, and the pregnant mother's response to the fetus causes physiological thrombocytopenia.

Pregnancy complicated by idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura

Pregnancy complicated with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is caused by the binding of the FC receptor of macrophages to the FC fragment of antiplatelet antibodies attached to the platelet membrane glycoprotein, resulting in thrombocytopenia and relatively severe bleeding. The platelet count is generally less than 50×109/L, and the patient is in great danger at this time.

Causes of low platelet count in pregnant women

This disease is a common disease. Various factors may cause low platelets. According to the different causes, it can be divided into two categories: primary and secondary. For primary patients, if the cause is not identified, it may be caused by various factors such as the immune system, viral infection and blood vessels.

Acute ITP

Most cases of acute ITP occur during the recovery period after a viral infection, or they may be upper respiratory tract infections, such as measles and chickenpox. In this case, there are more antiviral antibodies in the patient's serum, so it can be said that the antibodies on the platelet surface caused by the viral antigens appear to increase significantly. This type of situation may be due to the reaction between the woman's antigen-antibody complex and platelet receptors, or the antibodies produced by viral antigens and platelet membranes, which damages the platelets and then causes macrophages to engulf the platelets.

Chronic ITP

Chronic ITP is caused by changes in platelet structural antigens, which in turn cause changes in antibodies in women's bodies. Patients with the disease generally have no history of infection. About 85% of medical records contain platelet surface-related antibodies, of which about 95% are PalgG, about 67% are PalgM and PalgG, and very few are PalgA and pac. Generally speaking, glycoproteins exist on the platelet membrane, and antibodies and glycoproteins interact directly, with a small part acting on the Gbib complex. Therefore, the function of platelets changes and the life span of platelets is shortened accordingly.
