The best time for women to get an IUD

Many women know that IUD insertion is a way to avoid pregnancy. However, I don’t know that people with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and vaginitis are not suitable for IUD insertion. Some female friends are ready to go to the hospital to have an IUD inserted, but the doctor tells them that it is not suitable to have an IUD inserted at this time. In fact, there is a time limit for IUD insertion. Choosing the best time will be of great benefit to our body. So when is the best time for women to have an IUD inserted?

Under normal circumstances, the IUD is inserted 42 days after a normal birth, and around 6 months if it is a caesarean section.

The type of ring must be determined by the doctor, because when inserting the ring, the doctor needs to consider factors such as the size of your uterine cavity. There is such a situation, for example, if you want to use the Mirena contraceptive ring, that is also possible, but you must know the side effects of the drug and its impact on menstruation in advance. Also, if you want to use a "T-ring", that's also possible.

If a postpartum woman suffers from a serious gynecological disease, such as acute and severe cervical erosion, excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding, uterine fibroids, etc., it is not suitable to have an IUD inserted immediately.

A small number of women also have the IUD inserted immediately after giving birth. At this time, the insertion operation is simple and easy, and contraceptive measures can be implemented in time, but it must be inserted after examination and approval by an obstetrician.

The advantages of having an IUD inserted 42 days after delivery are: First, the cervix becomes loose. Second, the uterus has returned to its normal size and has not shrunk due to breastfeeding for too long. Third, timely implementation of contraceptive measures is convenient for women and can avoid the occurrence of hidden pregnancy.

When is the best time to get an IUD after an abortion?

Women can have an IUD inserted at the same time after having an abortion.

The IUD should be inserted immediately after abortion or curettage. The advantage is that contraceptive measures can be implemented in one operation, which reduces pain and is more convenient for women. It is also possible to insert the IUD after normal menstruation resumes after a spontaneous abortion or artificial abortion with curettage.

When is the best time for women to get an IUD?

For most women, the best time to have an IUD inserted is within one week after the end of menstruation.

Why should you choose to insert it after your menstrual period is over? Generally, most women choose to have the IUD inserted at this time. Insert when menstruation is not over. It should be placed on the 3rd to 5th day of menstruation. The advantage of placing it during this period is that the cervix is loose and easy to insert.

The second is to ensure that the woman has the IUD inserted during a time when she is not pregnant.

Thirdly, because the endometrium is thin after menstruation, bleeding is less after insertion and the side effects are lighter.

It is generally believed that the IUD should be inserted within 7 days after the end of menstruation, preferably on the third or fourth day after the end of menstruation. Insertion of the IUD after 7 days is prone to bleeding, and it is very likely to coincide with early ovulation and cause pregnancy with the IUD. For this reason, those with longer menstrual periods should try to have the IUD inserted as early as possible.

If the previously placed ring has expired and requires a replacement, a new ring can be inserted at the same time as the ring is removed. You can also insert a new ring after your next menstrual period is over. But you must remember to use contraception during the month after removing the IUD.

But there are also some countries where women get IUDs during menstruation.

What are the situations where it is not suitable to have a ring

Women with the following diseases are not suitable for IUD insertion:

Women with acute pelvic inflammatory disease, acute vaginitis, severe cervical erosion, uterine fibroids, or a narrow cervix; women with serious systemic diseases should not have the IUD inserted, as it will aggravate the inflammation and increase the menstrual flow. Do not insert the IUD and wait until the condition stabilizes and improves before inserting the IUD.

Frequent and heavy menstruation, or irregular vaginal bleeding. People with menstrual irregularities such as heavy menstruation, frequent menstruation or irregular vaginal bleeding should not have an IUD inserted. Otherwise, it is impossible to distinguish which are symptoms of the disease and which are side effects of the IUD, and the insertion of the IUD may also aggravate the symptoms.

For those with a loose cervix, severe tearing, or severe uterine prolapse, the IUD can easily fall out even after insertion, so these people are not suitable for contraceptive use.

Women with bleeding tendency often experience menstruation, increased leucorrhea or lower abdominal discomfort in the early stages after IUD insertion, and these symptoms will increase the patient's pain.
