Why do pregnant women have itchy nipples?

During pregnancy, due to changes in hormone levels in the body, pregnant women will experience some related physical reactions. These symptoms are mild at first, and will worsen due to individual differences in the later stages. However, these discomfort symptoms caused by changes in hormone levels will gradually disappear in the later stages. Of course, they can also be alleviated through some physical means. So what are the most common causes of nipple itching?

There are the following possible reasons for nipple itching: First, skin infection. The nipples are particularly sensitive. When bacteria invade the breasts, the nipples will become red and itchy. If this is the case, just buy some erythromycin ointment and apply it. Second, the itching is caused by frequent contact of the fingers with the nipples. Because our fingers carry a large number of bacteria, they can cause dermatitis on the nipples. Third, it is caused by pregnancy. Generally, the breasts will swell and the nipples will feel slightly itchy after more than two months of pregnancy, but it is not a big deal. This is a normal phenomenon and there is no need to worry.

It is indeed easy to experience nipple itching during pregnancy. There are physiological problems as well as pathological reasons. If the itching and pain persist, it is necessary to go to the hospital for a check-up to see if it is a breast disease, especially mastitis, which is an inflammation that is easy to occur during pregnancy and cannot be ignored. Otherwise, it will increase the symptoms and is not conducive to physical treatment.
