1. Is it effective to take birth control pills 24 hours after sex?

Taking emergency contraceptive pills 24 hours after sex is effective. You can also choose to take contraceptive pills according to the situation. The time to take various contraceptive pills is:

1. If a couple has an irregular lifestyle and cannot take oral contraceptives every day, they can choose long-acting oral contraceptives, such as combined 18-methylnorhenothrone. Take the pill once on the fifth day of menstruation, take the second pill 20 days later, and then take it once a month, one pill each time.

2. For couples who live together and have a regular life and can take oral contraceptives every day, they can choose to take short-acting oral contraceptives, such as oral contraceptives No. 1 and No. 2. Start taking it from the fifth day of menstruation, one tablet per day, for 22 consecutive days.

3. The couple live apart. When visiting relatives, you can take visiting contraceptive pills, such as Visiting Pill No. 1. Take one tablet 8 hours before sex, then take one tablet every night until the visit is over, and take another tablet the next morning. It is not suitable for long-term use.

4. If other contraceptive methods have failed or if you have been raped, you can take emergency contraceptive pills, such as 50 mg of ethinyl estradiol, within 24 hours for five consecutive days.

2. Contraindications and precautions of contraceptive pills

1. Patients with the following diseases should not take contraceptives: acute hepatitis, nephritis, heart disease, hypertension, malignant tumors, benign breast tumors, and uterine fibroids. Breast cancer, genital cancer, and any other cancer. Diastolic blood pressure is above 12kPa and there is severe headache. People with diabetes, epilepsy, mental illness and thromboembolic diseases (such as cerebral thrombosis, myocardial infarction, vasculitis) are contraindicated in taking birth control pills. People with a family history of diabetes, those who are breastfeeding, before and after major surgery, those with blocked blood vessels in the legs and lungs, those who are suspected of being pregnant or have had jaundice during previous pregnancy should not take birth control pills. Women over 40 years old, women whose children are less than two years old after giving birth, and women who have smoking and drinking habits should take female oral contraceptives with caution.

2. Various contraceptives have different dosages and usage. Please read the instructions carefully before use. Do not take long-acting drugs as short-acting drugs continuously to avoid damage to liver function.

3. Duration of oral contraceptive use: Short-acting contraceptives can be taken for 6 to 7 years, and long-acting contraceptives can be taken for 3 to 4 years. If you need to take them for a long time, you should have regular physical examinations.
