It is common to hear women complain about various discomforts during menstruation, such as back pain, chest tightness, and pain in the waist. In severe cases, the pain makes them sweat all over and they cannot even walk. A former classmate of mine suffered from severe dysmenorrhea. She couldn’t attend classes every time she had her period and had to get an IV drip to relieve the pain. Menstrual pain is a type of dysmenorrhea, and the main reason is that the body is affected by hormones. What other symptoms does dysmenorrhea have and how to relieve it? 1. Try not to wash your hair during your menstrual period. If you must wash your hair, try to wash it at noon and be sure to blow dry your hair immediately after washing. 2. Pay attention to keeping warm during your menstrual period, which means using less air conditioning and wearing more clothes in an air-conditioned room. 3. Avoid drinking cold drinks: This is very basic common sense. Never violate it and don’t joke about your own beauty. Drinking ice water will prevent the dirty blood from being discharged smoothly, and it will definitely be harmful to the body if it stays in the body. Try the following drinks to make your menstrual period more comfortable: longan and red date tea, health tea, Zhenwei ginseng, brown sugar ginger water, astragalus and wolfberry tea, rose tea (especially if you have menstrual pain, you can drink some rose tea). 4. Eat some sweets: Eat chocolate and cake during your menstrual period, because it is less likely to gain weight if you eat sweets during your menstrual period! It can also help metabolize dirty blood. 5. Avoid fatigue: Adequate rest is important. Excessive fatigue can lead to prolonged menstrual period or excessive blood loss. 6. Don’t be too emotional: It is said that girls will naturally be in a bad mood during their menstrual period, but don’t indulge yourself in losing your temper, because losing your temper will disrupt your menstrual period and hurt your liver. 7. Avoid taking a tub bath: Because the cervix is more open during menstruation and is also more susceptible to contamination, it is best to take a shower. The symptoms include colic, heaviness, and distension in the lower back, which may radiate to the lumbar and sacral regions, medial side, vagina, and anus. Patients with membranous dysmenorrhea will experience severe pain when large pieces of shed endometrium are about to be expelled, and the pain will quickly subside once the endometrium is expelled. Those with severe pain may have cold limbs, pale complexion, and even collapse. It may also be accompanied by other gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, as well as bladder and rectal irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, anal distension, etc., and may also cause discomfort such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, or nervousness. So far, due to the different pain thresholds and tolerance levels of each person, and the lack of objective quantitative methods to accurately measure the degree of pain, the reports on the incidence of dysmenorrhea at home and abroad vary greatly. In 1980, my country's Menstrual Physiological Constants Collaborative Group surveyed 71,746 women, and 33.2% of them suffered from dysmenorrhea. Among them, 36.1% were primary dysmenorrhea, 31.7% were secondary dysmenorrhea, and 32.2% were of unknown cause. Severe dysmenorrhea affects life and work. |
