When does women experience menopause?

Menopause has become the biggest worry for middle-aged women. Menopause is a special physiological period in a woman's life. The most obvious change during menopause is the cessation of menstruation. What follows are psychological changes. So, when exactly do women experience menopause?

Since the decline of female ovarian function is a gradual process, it is difficult to determine exactly when a woman's menopause begins. However, once the level of estrogen secreted by the ovaries drops to a certain level, women's menstruation stops, which is called menopause. Therefore, the time of menopause in women can be calculated based on their age of menopause, which usually starts about 10 years before menopause.

The age of menopause for each woman varies greatly, influenced by region, climate, race, economy, nutrition, genetics, age of menarche, reproductive experience, and contraceptive methods. On the other hand, some records in Western history show that although the age of menopause in women has been slightly delayed, the change is not particularly large. Before the Common Era, women entered menopause at an average age of 40 to 50 years old, 35 to 60 years old in the Middle Ages, and currently in Western countries it is generally 42 to 58 years old.

my country once surveyed more than 130,000 women in 29 provinces and cities, and found that the age of natural menopause was between 42 and 58 years old, with an average of 49.5 years old. Of course, there are some women who go into menopause as early as 39 and as late as 60 years old. An earlier or later age of menopause should be noted until no other abnormalities are found. In fact, 95% of menopause occurs around the age of 50, and rural women on average reach menopause two years earlier than urban women. According to the measurement of hormone levels and various physiological indicators in women's bodies, women's menopause begins approximately 10 years before menopause, which is around 40 years old. Generally, about 10 years after menopause, ovarian function will completely disappear, women's menopause ends, and they enter old age.

Women's menopause is divided into three stages

Menopausal transition period: 2-5 years before menopause, and as long as 10 years.

Menopause: 1-2 years after the last menstrual period.

Postmenopause: 15-20 years after menopause.

Women's menopause lasts about 10 years, and can be as long as 20 years, during which time a series of physiological and psychological changes may occur. Most women can go through menopause smoothly, but a few women are troubled by a series of symptoms due to the significant physiological and psychological changes during menopause, which affects their physical and mental health. Therefore, every woman who reaches menopause should pay attention to strengthening self-care.

The above is a brief introduction to the menopause period for women. If you have any problems during menopause, you should see a doctor in time and solve them in time to ensure a smooth menopause period.

There are 5 principles for safe menopause

1. Do weight training

During menopause, women's metabolism slows down, so they need to rely on fitness to help speed up their metabolism. Weight-bearing exercises such as walking, jogging, biking, or jumping on a trampoline can help maintain bone density and prevent osteoporosis. It is advisable to do this kind of exercise 5 days a week, half an hour a day.

2. Take care of your breasts

80% of breast cancers occur after menopause, so if you notice any changes in your breasts, see your doctor right away. Women should have a mammogram every 3 years after age 50.

3. Maintain a positive attitude

Experts emphasize that maintaining a good attitude and minimizing stress in life and work can also help alleviate the discomfort caused by menopause. Acupuncture and hypnotherapy can also effectively relieve insomnia and depression symptoms in women during menopause.

4. Regular cervical smear tests

Experts point out that around menopause, women are at increased risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, and 90% of cervical cancers occur at the age of 45. Therefore, menopausal women should have a cervical smear test every 3 years, a pelvic exam every year, and frequent checks of blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

5. Eat more beans

Studies have found that foods such as soybeans, lentils and kidney beans contain phytoestrogens, which can alleviate the various discomforts caused by the decline of estrogen in women during menopause.
