What causes bleeding after sex?

Sexual intercourse is a common behavior in modern life, but many situations will occur after sex, including bleeding during sex. This situation should be taken seriously, and there are many reasons for the occurrence of bleeding during sex, including some diseases or other reasons. So what is the reason for bleeding after sex?

Cervicitis (erosion). 90% of married women suffer from cervicitis. Cervicitis is divided into three types according to the degree of cervical erosion: mild, moderate, and severe. For those with moderate or severe cervical erosion, the rubbing of the cervix by the male's penis glans during sexual intercourse may cause injury and bleeding. Because the amount of bleeding is small, it does not flow out immediately, but accumulates in the vagina, and the color of the blood changes from fresh to old. Therefore, when it flows out the next day, the blood is dark red

Cervical polyps. The cervix may develop cervical polyps due to chronic inflammation. Single or multiple small pedunculated granulation tissues grow at the cervical opening, which look like bean sprouts, and the larger ones are as big as a finger. The polyps are tender and bleed when touched, so there may be bleeding after sex. This bleeding is usually bright red.

Cervical cancer. Bleeding after sexual intercourse is its earliest symptom. Because there are more small blood vessels in the cancerous lesions and the tissues are more fragile, the capillaries will rupture and bleed after sexual intercourse. If the cancer develops further, it will be more likely to bleed.

Endometriosis. Some endometriosis grows in the cervix and appears as blue-purple nodules. If you encounter such blue-purple ectopic nodules during intercourse, it will cause bleeding. The bleeding is usually small in amount and dark red in color. Abdominal pain often occurs after intercourse.

Pelvic inflammatory disease. Pelvic inflammation can cause pelvic congestion. If the endometrium is congested and edematous, the congested endometrium may ooze out after sex, but this opportunity is rare.

Other causes of vaginal bleeding after sex include vaginitis, submucosal uterine fibroids prolapse into the vagina, etc. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up and then receive symptomatic treatment.
