What to do if the ovarian cyst becomes larger

Ovarian cyst is a relatively common female disease. After being diagnosed with ovarian cyst, women may feel quite panicked. In fact, as long as the ovarian cyst does not increase in size, it generally does not cause particularly big problems. There is no need to worry too much. So what should I do if the ovarian cyst becomes larger? The enlargement of ovarian cysts means that the disease is developing in a bad direction to a certain extent. Let me introduce to people the reasons and solutions.

Causes of ovarian cyst enlargement

Four major causes of ovarian cysts

1. Continuous ovulation. Continuous ovulation causes continuous damage and repair of the ovarian surface epithelium. As a result, on the one hand, the possibility of mutation of ovarian surface epithelial cells during the repair process increases; on the other hand, it increases the chance of formation of ovarian epithelial inclusion cysts. Epidemiological investigations on the causes of ovarian cysts have found that multiple pregnancies, breastfeeding and oral contraceptives can reduce the incidence of ovarian tumors, which may be related to the reduction in the number of ovulations. The use of ovulation-inducing drugs, such as clomiphene, can increase the risk of ovarian tumors.

2. Endocrine factors, excessive gonadotropin (FSH and LH) stimulation and estrogen

The effect can promote the proliferation and transformation of epithelial cells in ovarian inclusion cysts.

3. Genetic factors: the cause of ovarian cysts. About 10% of patients with ovarian malignant tumors have genetic abnormalities.

4. Environmental factors: The incidence of ovarian malignant tumors is high in industrially developed countries, and the cause of ovarian cysts may be related to the high cholesterol content in the diet.

In addition, the first symptoms of early patients often manifest in the gastrointestinal tract. Almost all patients seek medical attention due to abdominal distension, poor appetite, decreased appetite or obvious weight loss. If ascites occurs, abdominal distension will be more obvious and abdominal pain may also occur, which is also one of the symptoms of ovarian cysts.

Ovarian cysts are a type of ovarian tumor that can occur at any age, but are most common in women aged 20-50. Generally speaking, if the cyst diameter is less than 5 cm and there is no evidence to suggest a tumor, it is mostly a functional cyst and can be closely followed up, that is, checked every 2-3 months, and the inspection interval can be adjusted according to the situation; if the cyst diameter is greater than 5 cm, it is mostly an ovarian tumor, which generally requires surgical treatment; if it is accompanied by progressively worsening dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia, and tender nodules in the pelvis, endometriosis (i.e. chocolate cyst) should be considered. Different treatments can be adopted according to specific circumstances

Ovarian cyst refers to a benign tumor of the ovary and is the most common gynecological disease. It can occur in women of any age, but is more common during the reproductive period. Patients usually have no obvious symptoms and the disease is often discovered accidentally during physical examination. Clinically, the disease progresses slowly, and as the cyst slowly grows larger, symptoms such as menstrual disorders, abdominal distension and abdominal pain often occur. When these symptoms are more severe, women are more likely to develop ovarian cysts, and the chances and risks of developing ovarian cancer if the lesions become malignant are greater. If the cyst is smaller than 5cm, medication can be used for treatment. If it is larger than 5cm, it is recommended that you have surgical treatment. Be sure to choose a regular hospital for treatment. Pay attention to rest and diet.
