What shape of follicle is good quality

For women to ensure normal fertility, the egg must be released from the follicle when it matures. Abnormal ovarian follicles are also an important factor leading to female infertility, and many women have this problem. The morphology of the follicle has a great relationship with the egg and is directly related to the quality of the egg. Many women are concerned about a better morphology. So, what shape of follicles is of good quality? Let’s take a look below.

What shape is good for ovarian follicles?

Under B-ultrasound monitoring, the largest mature follicle is formed between the 10th and 16th day of menstruation. The diameter of the follicle is generally 20mm. It is round and thin-walled. It often protrudes to one side of the ovary. It is very sound-transparent inside the ovary and will be discharged within 10 hours. The symptoms after ovulation in women are partial collapse of the follicle wall and wrinkled and jagged edges of the follicle.

What does it feel like when an egg is released? If you have these feelings, then it is likely that you are ovulating or have just ovulated.

1. Lower abdominal pain: When the egg is discharged, it needs to break through a thin membrane follicle that wraps the surface. A small amount of fluid in the follicle will flow into the lowest part of the pelvic cavity, causing a small amount of bleeding. At this time, you will feel pain in one side of the lower abdomen, which will be relieved after a few hours.

2. Increased vaginal secretions: Vaginal secretions increase significantly and appear watery, transparent and clear. Women will feel their vagina is wet and slippery, and when they wipe it with toilet paper, there will be egg white-like strips of mucus.

3. Ovulation bleeding: After the follicle is discharged, the estrogen level drops sharply, causing local rupture and shedding of the endometrium, resulting in breakthrough bleeding. The amount of bleeding during ovulation is small and usually stops on its own within 2-3 days, and can last up to 7 days.

4. Slightly high body temperature: The body temperature is slightly higher when the egg is released, but the change is not obvious, generally fluctuating around 0.5 degrees Celsius.

5. Breast pain: During ovulation, the estrogen level in the body increases, breast hyperplasia, and edema of interbreast tissue lead to breast pain.

What are the methods of inducing ovulation?

Ovulation induction refers to the use of drugs and surgery to induce ovulation in the case of ovulation disorders, generally with the purpose of inducing the development of a single follicle or a few follicles.

Methods to induce ovulation include taking ovulation-inducing drugs, such as clomiphene, gonadotropin, or combined hormone therapy and surgical treatment. The development of follicles needs to be monitored while using ovulation-inducing drugs. Because ovulation disorders make it impossible to ovulate spontaneously, during the treatment of assisted reproductive technology, doctors usually use ovulation induction treatment to help women with ovulation disorders ovulate, thereby increasing the chance of pregnancy.

Anovulation is a common cause of infertility, accounting for about 20%-40% of infertility. What should I take to promote ovulation? Ovulation-promoting drugs mainly include clomiphene, aromatase inhibitors, insulin sensitizers, bromocriptine, exogenous gonadotropin, human chorionic gonadotropin, etc.

1. Clomiphene

Clomiphene is an anti-estrogen drug that induces the hypothalamus to produce gonadotropin-releasing hormone, which stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone to promote the development of multiple follicles.

2. Aromatase inhibitors

It is suitable for postmenopausal advanced breast cancer and is mostly used as a second-line treatment after failure of anti-estrogen therapy.

3. Insulin sensitizers

In the treatment of obese PCOS and non-obese PCOS with insulin resistance, the use of insulin sensitizers may be considered to promote the recovery of ovulation function.
