Is it normal to have strong fetal movements in late pregnancy?

Strong fetal movements in the late pregnancy bother many first-time mothers, making them very worried about the development of the fetus. What is the reason for frequent fetal movements in the late pregnancy? In fact, normal pregnant women should begin to feel fetal movements at 20 weeks of pregnancy. As the gestational age increases, fetal movements gradually increase, reaching a peak at 32-34 weeks of pregnancy. However, fetal movements will begin to gradually decrease after 38 weeks of pregnancy. If the fetal movements are frequent in the late pregnancy, that is, greater than or equal to 30 times/12 hours or greater than or equal to 4 times/hour, it is also normal, so expectant mothers do not need to worry too much.

The number of fetal movements will vary depending on the time. Generally speaking, there are more fetal movements at night and fewer in the morning. Especially before going to bed at night, the fetus moves the most because it is more energetic at this time. Therefore, when expectant mothers measure the number of fetal movements themselves, they should calculate the number of fetal movements in the morning, noon, and evening respectively, for one hour each time, and then multiply the sum of the three counts by 4, which is the number of fetal movements in 12 hours.

What to do if the fetus moves strongly in late pregnancy

Through self-monitoring and family monitoring after pregnancy, fetal abnormalities can be detected in time and treated in a timely manner. Generally, fetal movement can be felt between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy, reaching its peak between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy, and gradually decreasing after 38 weeks of pregnancy. Pregnant women should measure fetal movement from the 28th week of gestation. Once a day in the morning, noon and evening, each time for 1 hour. Pregnant women can sit or lie on their side and place their hands lightly on the abdominal wall to feel the fetal movement. Normal fetal movement is 3-5 times/hour. You can also multiply the number of fetal movements measured 3 times by 4, which is equal to the number of fetal movements in 12 hours. It should be more than 30 times. Less than 20 times is also considered abnormal. More or less indicates that there is something abnormal about the fetus and you should seek medical attention in time. After 36 weeks of pregnancy, you can teach your family to listen to the fetal heart sounds in the pregnant woman's abdomen. The fetal heart rate is 120-160 beats/minute. If it is found to be irregularly accelerated or slowed down, it is an abnormal situation and you should go to the hospital for examination in time. It is best to ensure 8 hours of sleep and lie on your left side, but it is better to do whatever you feel comfortable with.

During the checkup, we can only tell you the baby's condition at that time. The baby's condition in the belly is changing, so you can't completely rely on the doctor. You should also pay attention to yourself. If there is aging of the placenta or the baby's umbilical cord is around the neck, you should listen to the fetal heartbeat frequently, but you can't scare yourself.
