Will swimming cause gynecological diseases?

Swimming is a very good form of exercise. Although swimming is sometimes limited by time and place, it can indeed bring great benefits to the human body. Friends who swim frequently know that sometimes when you are in a swimming pool, you need to be careful to avoid infectious diseases. Many women can't help but worry about whether they will suffer from gynecological diseases when swimming.

Recently, a survey by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that women developed reproductive system infections or menstrual disorders after swimming, and these diseases were difficult to cure. If you swim in unsanitary water, the dirty water can enter the vagina, changing the acidic environment of the vagina and weakening the vagina's disease resistance mechanism. If this defense mechanism is destroyed, pathogens can take advantage of the opportunity to enter and cause various diseases. Many swimmers suffer from tinea corporis, tinea pedis, trachoma, fungal or trichomoniasis.

Patients with vaginitis, or even gonorrhea, genital warts, etc., bring pathogens into the pool water, which can easily infect healthy swimmers. Especially in the early stages of women's menstrual cycle, when the body's resistance is reduced, bacteria can easily enter the uterus, fallopian tubes and other reproductive organs through the vagina and cause infection.

Some women think that it is safe to swim during menstruation by using a sanitary tampon, but in fact this method is not advisable. The blood that flows out of the uterus during menstruation is itself a good culture medium for the reproduction of pathogens. Moreover, the uterus is open during menstruation. When the tampon is soaked in water, pathogens can easily enter the body and cause reproductive system infection.

Swimming during menstruation can not only cause reproductive system infections, but also lead to menstrual disorders. Medical experts believe that many factors may cause menstrual disorders, and the stimulation of cold water when swimming is one of the reasons. As we all know, the normal menstrual cycle is formed by the synergistic action of hormones released by the human endocrine system, including the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and ovaries, and the endocrine system is controlled by the nervous system. When the human body is subjected to adverse external stimuli, such as excessive tension, fatigue, and cold, it will lead to dysfunction of the nervous and endocrine systems, and ultimately cause symptoms of menstrual disorders such as dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, excessive or insufficient menstrual bleeding, etc.
