What inspections are needed for ring removal?

When removing the IUD, some detailed examinations are needed, especially the examination of our internal tissues, to prevent some irreversible consequences when removing the IUD. Most of these examinations are relatively detailed, and they are also relatively important, but many people do not know its specific examination items or have not understood them. So what examinations are needed for removing the IUD?

Before removing the ring, an X-ray or B-ultrasound examination should be performed. For the ring with a tail thread, you can ask the doctor to dilate the vaginal opening to see if there is any nylon thread outside the uterine opening to confirm that the ring is in the uterine cavity before removing the ring. This is also very necessary in the precautions before removing the ring. The IUD should be removed within 3-7 days after the menstruation is over. Sexual intercourse and bathing in a tub are prohibited 3 days before the operation to prevent infection.

Keep your vulva clean. After removing the IUD, keep the vulva clean to avoid infection. If you remove the IUD in the summer, you should change your underwear frequently and replace the sanitary napkins you use in a timely manner; wash your vulva with warm water once a day, and do not use gynecological wash when washing. In addition, you can take anti-infection drugs in moderation as prescribed by your doctor.

Keep warm

Your body will be weaker after the IUD is removed, so you should pay attention to keeping warm and avoid catching cold. If you are removing the IUD in winter, be sure to keep warm and avoid wearing tight pants. Make sure to stay in bed and rest for the first two days after removing the IUD. It is best not to go out for the first week to avoid catching a cold.

Prohibition of sexual activity

Do not have sexual intercourse within two weeks after removing the IUD to avoid infection and inflammation and prevent gynecological diseases in the future, such as cervicitis, vaginitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. If a couple wants to get pregnant, they must wait six months after the IUD is removed before they can get pregnant. Go to the hospital for a check-up 3 months after the IUD is removed to ensure that the endometrium has fully recovered to prevent the uterus from not fully recovering, which may lead to fetal malformations or miscarriage after pregnancy.

Pay attention to the bleeding

Pay close attention after the operation and seek medical attention promptly if any special circumstances occur. When the IUD is removed, the endometrium and cervix are stimulated, and there may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding or bloody leucorrhea (this is caused by the foreign body stimulating the endometrium or cervix during IUD removal, which is a normal phenomenon), which usually disappears in about 1-2 days. If the amount of bleeding is heavy (greater than normal menstrual volume) or the bleeding time is long (greater than three days), you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

Pay attention to food nutrition

After removing the IUD, you can supplement some high-protein foods (beans, eggs, milk, etc.) to speed up the repair of damaged tissue in the uterus; eat more blood-enriching foods (brown sugar, longan, red dates, black beans) to reduce the symptoms of anemia after removing the IUD; eat less spicy, irritating, and raw and cold foods.
