It is recommended to replace the front and rear sprockets together with the chain, especially the small sprocket, which is subjected to very large torque during normal operation. Otherwise, the small sprocket may be worn out before the second chain is worn out.

The motorcycle chain cannot be cleaned simply with carburetor cleaner or gasoline, because if it is an oil-sealed chain, such a rough cleaning method will cause the oil seal to be damaged. Once the oil seal is damaged, the chain will wear out very quickly. A chain that could have been used for 10,000 kilometers may only be used for 3,000 kilometers after being washed with carburetor cleaner.

There is no need to use special chain cleaner to clean the chain. A bottle costs about 20 to 30 yuan and can be used for washing once or twice. After washing, apply chain oil to the chain. After a round of this, the chain will be clean and refreshed, and it will run very smoothly.

Is it better to oil or not oil the motorcycle chain?

If the chain is not oiled, it will become shiny after a long time, and the chain will easily lengthen after wear. In fact, the chain becomes longer not because the chain is stretched due to force, but because the rings between the chains are worn, and the clearance inside becomes larger, so there will be more margin when the large and small sprockets are engaged, which is manifested as the chain being stretched.
