Is it normal that I am not gaining weight in the later stages of pregnancy?

Pregnant women consume a lot of food during pregnancy. Basically, one person eats and two people digest it, and their weight is slowly increasing while they eat. Many pregnant women gain weight significantly before and during the second trimester, but there is no change in their weight in the third trimester. Some women worry that they have not gained weight in the third trimester and that the fetus has not grown either. In fact, as long as the baby develops healthily, it doesn't matter whether they gain weight or not. Just have regular prenatal check-ups.

1. Is it normal for a pregnant woman not to gain weight in the later stages of pregnancy?

This problem is serious and all pregnant mothers will have it. In fact, there is no need to worry too much about this situation. Generally speaking, it is normal to gain 25 to 30 pounds during pregnancy. As long as the pregnant woman does not feel too much discomfort during the process, has a good appetite and a reasonable nutritional balance, she should pay attention to whether the fetal movement is normal and pay more attention to rest.

2. Is there any standard for the weight of pregnant women?

Everyone knows that the health of pregnancy is closely related to the weight of the pregnant woman. Measuring the weight of pregnant women is one of the important items in prenatal examination. Being underweight will affect the baby's normal development. Being overweight will cause the baby to be born prematurely, which will cause a great burden on the mother during delivery. The weight gain of pregnant women generally comes from two aspects: one is the weight of the fetus, placenta and amniotic fluid. The second is the enlargement of the mother's body, uterus, and breasts. Weight gain during pregnancy is progressive. In the early stages of pregnancy, weight gain is generally not obvious. In the second trimester, weight gain is about 350 grams per week, generally not more than 0.5kg. From the second trimester to the late stages of pregnancy, if the monthly weight gain is less than 1 kilogram, or exceeds 3 kilograms, it is abnormal. This needs to be taken seriously.

How to control weight during pregnancy

During pregnancy, the mother's body will undergo some changes, and the baby will gradually grow in the mother's belly, which will affect the mother's weight. So, how should the pregnant mother control her weight during this period? Allow your weight to increase in a steady manner.

First of all, we need to improve our previous eating habits. Because pregnant mothers need to maintain good nutrition during pregnancy, they should try to learn to eat some foods that they really need. Among them, the two most important nutrients for healthy pregnant women are calcium and folic acid. So, pregnant mothers should not forget to drink milk, eat citrus fruits and juices, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, beans, grains with skins, and fortified breads and cereals.

The second thing is to reach a healthy weight. To achieve a lighter weight, pregnant mothers should choose more low-fat, high-fiber foods, eat a balanced diet and do proper exercise to safely reduce weight at a rate of 1-2 pounds per week. If you are underweight, gain some weight!

During this period, pregnant mothers should also start taking vitamin supplements. Prenatal vitamin supplements are designed to ensure that pregnant women get enough of several important vitamins and minerals. The first of these is folic acid, a B vitamin that prevents neural tube defects during fetal development, so folic acid is a must.

In addition to paying attention to diet, you can also control your pregnant mother’s weight through exercise! You need to develop an exercise plan. A good, balanced fitness plan can provide you with endurance, strength and flexibility. Fitness should be started at least 3 months before pregnancy. This can make it easier for you to maintain an active lifestyle during pregnancy and make pregnancy life easier. Fitness exercises include running, alternating walking and running, walking, swimming, cycling and aerobics. But avoid some strenuous exercise.
