Why do women urinate frequently?

Whether male or female, they often experience frequent and urgent urination. The most obvious symptom of the patient is an increase in the number of urinations, which generally does not cause pain. Some frequent urination is caused by inflammation, in which case there will be some pain. In addition, some patients also have a fever. Therefore, there are many reasons for frequent urination. Female friends should combine many symptoms to find the cause.

What causes frequent urination in women?

(1) Increased urine volume: When urine volume increases, the frequency of urination will also increase accordingly. Under physiological conditions, such as drinking a lot of water, eating watermelon, and drinking beer, due to the increase in water intake, the urine volume increases through the regulation and filtration of the kidneys, and the frequency of urination also increases, resulting in frequent urination. Under pathological conditions, such as some patients with diabetes and diabetes insipidus, they drink a lot of water, urinate a lot, and urinate frequently. But there was no discomfort in urination.

(2) Inflammatory stimulation: When there is inflammation in the bladder, the nerve perception threshold is lowered, the urinary center is in an excited state, resulting in frequent urination and reduced urine volume (<300-500 ml/time in adults). Therefore, frequent urination is an important symptom of cystitis, especially in acute cystitis and tuberculous cystitis. Other conditions such as prostatitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, chronic balanoposthitis in children, vulvitis, etc. can also cause frequent urination. Under the stimulation of inflammation, frequent urination, urgency and pain often occur at the same time, which is called urinary tract irritation sign, commonly known as "triuria sign".

(3) Non-inflammatory irritation: such as urinary stones and foreign bodies, usually with frequent urination as the main manifestation.

How many times a day is normal to urinate?

Experts explain that the healthy standard for urination is 8 times a day, about 300 ml each time, and the total amount does not exceed 3000 ml. If it happens more than 8 times and not due to drinking water, it is called frequent urination. Many people think that constant urge to urinate is definitely due to kidney deficiency. In fact, most frequent urination has nothing to do with the kidneys.

If you urinate frequently but in small amounts, it could be a problem with your bladder and urethra. If you urinate frequently but in small amounts, it could be a metabolic disease, such as diabetes or polyuria. Only when you urinate frequently and a routine urine test reveals high urine protein, is there a possibility of kidney problems.

Some people urinate frequently because they always feel the urge to urinate. At this time, you can check yourself: if you feel the urge to urinate very urgently, it may be an overactive bladder; if you feel a slight urge to urinate and not very urgent, it may be sensory neurosis or chronic bladder inflammation caused by urinary tract infection.

A normal adult urinates an average of 4 to 8 times a day during the day and 0 to 2 times at night after going to bed; an infant urinates 20 to 30 times during the day and night. If the frequency of urination increases significantly and exceeds the above range, it is frequent urination.
