There is a hard lump next to the vulva

Some women found a lump next to their vulva when cleaning their private parts, and it felt hard to the touch. But there will be no pain. What is the reason for this? In fact, if there are hard bumps next to the vulva and it is accompanied by itching at night, it is likely to be a disease such as furunculosis. Below we introduce the main symptoms of furuncle for your judgment.

Furuncle refers to a skin disease caused by scabies infecting the skin (mechanical damage from digging tunnels and irritation from secreting venom). It can be transmitted through sex, especially among young men and women who engage in promiscuous sex. The disease spreads rapidly, so it has been listed as a sexually transmitted disease by the World Health Organization. The signs of scabies are intense itching of the skin, and the rash often occurs in the folds of the skin, especially in the pubic area.

Main symptoms

(1) Paroxysmal severe itching at night.

(2) Tunnels dug by scabies can be seen in the seams of the hands. They are about 2 to 4 mm long and appear as gray-brown irregular curves. This is the trace left by scabies. (3) The rash often occurs in areas with thin and tender skin, especially between the fingers, lower abdomen, breasts, armpits, groin, genitals, etc. The skin lesions are mainly millet-sized papules or papulovesicles.

(4) Scabies nodules. Pale red nodules the size of soybeans appear on the scrotum, penis, labia, groin, etc. These are scabies nodules. These nodules often persist for a long time and are often accompanied by severe itching.

As the saying goes: "Scabies is a dragon, it starts from the hands, goes around the waist three times, and sets up camp in the genitals." This very vividly describes the general characteristics of scabies. "Scabies is a dragon" explains that the symptoms of scabies are widespread, not concentrated in one place. It also explains that scabies is progressive and often itches in no fixed place, like a dragon moving through the air; "Starting from the seams of the hands" explains that the seams of the hands are the easiest place to get sick; "Circling the waist three times" explains that the waist is often the main site of disease; "Setting up camp in the genitals" explains that scabies will eventually form scabies nodules in the genitals.

Associated symptoms

(1) Scratches and blood scabs. Scabies patients have severe itching and scratch unconsciously.

Scratches and bloody scabs on the skin are common. (2) Secondary eczematous changes: Due to the irritation of the skin by the secretions of scabies and factors such as scratching, the skin will develop lesions such as erythema, papules, and blisters. This is secondary eczematous changes, which often aggravates the itching.

(3) Secondary infection: Due to scratching, poor hygiene, or hot weather and excessive sweating, the skin is prone to secondary infection, resulting in symptoms such as secondary impetigo and superficial lymphadenopathy.

(4) Secondary nephritis is caused by secondary infection of scabies. The secretions of scabies and bacterial infection can act as antigens on the human body, resulting in nephritis. Patients may feel fatigue, edema, back pain, etc.

When diagnosing scabies, the doctor will do examinations and tests to confirm the diagnosis of scabies. So how can we conduct tests to confirm the diagnosis of this disease? Adult scabies are mostly hidden in tunnels in the skin, so when conducting tests, we must find the tunnels, then cut the tunnels with a blade, scrape out the scabies, place them on a glass slide, and examine them under a microscope. It is very easy to find scabies. Tunnels are usually found between the hands and sometimes in the wrists. The tunnel is actually a blind tube, slightly curved, with tiny black dots on the top, which are scabies.
