What causes pain in the female left leg?

For women, the probability of leg pain is very high, and it also has a great impact on women's physical health and daily life. Therefore, once this symptom occurs, patients need to receive timely symptomatic treatment. Generally speaking, the causes of left leg pain in women include: osteoarthritis, lumbar disc herniation, rheumatoid arthritis and hip synovitis. The following is a detailed introduction to these diseases.

1. Osteoarthritis:

Joint pain in primary orthopedic diseases. The main symptoms are distal and proximal interphalangeal joints of the hands, knees, elbows, shoulders and spine joints. Knee osteoarthritis patients complain of joint clicking pain when walking, pain when resting, joint stiffness when sitting or standing for a long time, and the stiffness disappears when walking and relaxing the muscles. The severity of the symptoms varies from day to day. Joint swelling is caused by bone hyperplasia and a small amount of exudate. Acute swelling indicates blood in the joint cavity.

2. Lumbar disc herniation:

The symptoms are obvious: low back and leg pain, and the sciatic nerve area of the patient's lateral limbs radiates pain. The low back pain disappears or is alleviated. The pain starts from the buttocks and gradually radiates to the lateral side of the leg, the outside of the leg, the outside of the dorsum of the foot, the heel or the sole of the foot, affecting standing and walking. If it is protruding from the center, the cauda equina symptoms are bilateral. If it is protruding from the center, the radiation can be bilateral or alternating.

3. Rheumatoid arthritis:

Chronic inflammatory diseases cause joint involvement and pain. The affected joints are the knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists and other joints. The lesions are spread from one joint to another and are manifested as redness, swelling, burning, and severe pain. The disease occurs in several joints at the same time. The typical disease is only joint pain. The inflammatory manifestation is that the disease progresses and worsens, and even serious symptoms such as bandage limitation and muscle atrophy threaten health.

4. Hip synovitis

Hip synovitis is the most common cause of hip pain in children, which always makes parents feel worried. The child may feel better after a period of rest, but may start to limp in pain again after a few days. Some parents are aware of this and are always afraid that it will progress to femoral head necrosis in children.

The full name of hip synovitis is "acute transient or self-limited synovitis of the hip". As the name suggests, this type of inflammation can get better on its own. However, when diagnosing hip synovitis, suppurative arthritis must be excluded. The latter requires emergency treatment and often presents with changes such as high fever, local joint swelling and pain, and skin redness and swelling. It can be confirmed through relevant blood tests and MRI examinations.
