How long can frozen breast milk be stored?

Sometimes, a few months after giving birth, the mother has to go out to work. At this time, they still rely on breast milk, and some babies are still unwilling to drink formula. You can put the breast milk in the refrigerator and keep it refrigerated so that the mother can go to work outside with peace of mind. Generally, this kind of breast milk can be stored for a week, and it is not recommended to store too much at one time. But if you keep it in the freezer, it can be kept for three to four months.

1. Storage in refrigerator: It can be stored for 8 days at 0-4 degrees Celsius.

2. Cryopreservation: Cryopreservation of breast milk is related to the condition of the freezer:

(1) If it is a small freezer box in the refrigerator, the shelf life is two weeks;

(2) If the freezer is separate from the refrigerator, but the door is frequently opened and closed to take items out, the shelf life is 3 to 4 months;

(3) If it is in a deep freezer, the temperature is kept below 0 degrees and the door is not opened frequently, the shelf life can be more than 6 months.

It is best to use plastic products that are suitable for freezing and well-sealed when freezing breast milk, followed by glass products. It is best not to use metal products because the active factors in breast milk will adhere to glass or metal, thereby reducing the nutrients in the breast milk. It's normal for stored breast milk to break down and look a little bluish, yellowish, or brown. When thawing frozen breast milk, you should first rinse the sealed bag with cold water, and then gradually add hot water until the breast milk is completely thawed and reaches a suitable feeding temperature. Do not heat breast milk directly over a stove or microwave as this will destroy the nutrients in the breast milk.

When thawing frozen breast milk, you should first rinse the sealed bag with cold water, then gradually add hot water until the breast milk is completely thawed and reaches a suitable temperature for feeding, or place it in the refrigerator to slowly thaw and defrost. Do not heat breast milk directly over a stove or microwave as this will destroy the nutrients in the breast milk.

After thawing, pour it directly into the bottle and feed your baby. Thawed breast milk must be consumed within 24 hours and cannot be re-frozen.

Frozen breast milk can be stored for six months, but I don't think it's reliable. Oh, if you freeze it, you have to use special freezer bags and write the specific date and event on them. It cannot be frozen again after thawing. The ordinary refrigerator in our home can only keep the food for three or four months at most. It is recommended to shorten the time. If you have to go to work, it is best to squeeze out some food for your baby and refrigerate it every day.
