Will postpartum coughing leave a root of disease?

Confinement after childbirth is a unique tradition in China. Although some methods have been criticized, it is generally a good thing for Chinese women's health. If the confinement period is not taken care of properly, it is very likely to cause some diseases, which may accompany the patient for life. If you get sick during the confinement period, it will become a headache for pregnant mothers. So, will coughing during confinement leave you with a chronic illness?

Will coughing during confinement leave you with a chronic illness?

It depends on the situation, but if you cough severely during confinement, it is likely to cause a chronic illness, so you should seek treatment as soon as possible.

Common diseases during confinement

1. Puerperal fever: During the delivery process, wounds are likely to occur in the birth canal, vagina, perineum, uterine wall, etc. These wounds may become inflamed due to bacterial invasion, and symptoms such as high temperature and fever may appear, which is puerperal fever. Generally, the temperature starts to suddenly worsen 2-3 days after delivery. If the high temperature of 38-39℃ persists for more than two days, you should worry about whether it is puerperal fever. When the symptoms are mild, they will completely disappear after two days. When the symptoms are severe, there will be a high fever for one to 10 days. At this time, high fever is accompanied by festering wounds, foul-smelling lochia, and severe pain in the lower abdomen. The reason is bacterial growth in the cervix or vagina during pregnancy, bacterial infection in early rupture of membranes, or bacterial infection in the wound from cesarean section or perineal incision.

2. Retained placenta: When the placenta is not completely expelled and remains in the uterus, it is called retained placenta. It is usually excreted during delivery and very rarely remains. If the color of lochia is red 10 days after delivery, you should worry about the retention of placenta.

3. Urinary incontinence: Urinary incontinence is a problem that worries many women after childbirth. Urine may leak out when you exert force on your body, such as when you sneeze, laugh, or lift something heavy. Urinary incontinence not only causes great inconvenience in life, but also imposes a huge psychological burden.

In order to better recover the body, confinement is very necessary, but there is no need to strictly follow the confinement methods of the older generation, as those methods still have some errors. During the confinement period, if any abnormal physical symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention immediately to prevent the condition from further deteriorating and becoming unable to be completely cured, causing secondary damage to the mother's body.
