How to relieve the discomfort of menstruation

Almost all women have experienced dysmenorrhea. Many women experience a heavy and bloated lower abdomen, back pain, general weakness, and lack of energy before or during their period, especially in the first two days of their period. Dysmenorrhea may be caused by many reasons. It may be a sign of certain gynecological diseases and should be taken seriously. If it is primary dysmenorrhea, you can try to relieve it yourself. 1. What is dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common gynecological symptoms. It refers to lower abdominal pain and distension before, during, or after menstruation, accompanied by back pain or other discomfort, and the symptoms seriously affect the quality of life. Dysmenorrhea is divided into two categories: primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea.

2. Causes

1. The occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea is mainly related to the increase in endometrial prostaglandin content during menstruation. Elevated PGF2α levels are the main cause of dysmenorrhea. High levels of PGF2α can cause excessive contraction of uterine smooth muscle and vascular spasm, resulting in uterine ischemia and hypoxia and dysmenorrhea.

Treatment

1. General treatment

2. Diet therapy

1) Black Bean and Eggnog Soup

Ingredients: 60 grams of black beans, 2 eggs, 100 ml of yellow wine or rice wine.

Method: Add water to black beans and eggs and cook them together.

Efficacy: It has the functions of regulating the middle, lowering qi and relieving pain. It is suitable for women with dysmenorrhea caused by deficiency of qi and blood, and has the effect of harmonizing blood and moisturizing the skin.

2) Ginger, mugwort and coix seed porridge

Ingredients: 10 grams each of dried ginger and mugwort leaves, 30 grams of coix seeds.

Preparation method: Boil the first two ingredients in water to extract the juice, cook the coix seeds into porridge until they are 80% cooked, add the medicinal juice and cook until done.

Efficacy: It has the effects of warming the meridians, removing blood stasis, dispelling cold, removing dampness and moisturizing the skin. Suitable for dysmenorrhea caused by cold and dampness stagnation.

3) Ginger, jujube and Sichuan pepper soup

Ingredients: 25 grams of ginger, 30 grams of jujube, 100 grams of pepper.

Preparation method: Peel the ginger, wash and slice it, wash and core the jujube, put it into a clay pot together with the peppercorns, add 1 and a half bowls of water, simmer over low heat until half a bowl of water remains, remove the residue and keep the soup. Drink, one dose per day.

Efficacy: It has the effect of warming the middle and relieving pain. It is suitable for treating dysmenorrhea due to cold and has the effect of brightening the skin.

4. Prevention

1. Keep warm during menstruation to avoid catching cold and menstrual cold.

2. Avoid cold drinks and cold foods during menstruation. Swimming, tub bathing and cold water bathing are prohibited during menstruation.

4. Regulate your emotions, keep your mind relaxed, and eliminate fear.

5. Drink more hot milk. For example, drinking a glass of hot milk with a spoonful of honey before going to bed every night can relieve dysmenorrhea.

6. Actively check and treat gynecological diseases. Avoid unnecessary gynecological examinations and various surgeries during menstruation to prevent bacterial ascending infection.
