Is there any specific medicine for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia?

After white spots appear on the vulva, some female friends are conservative and feel embarrassed to seek medical treatment for such a private part, which often delays the treatment of the disease. Some patients want to treat vulvar leukoplakia by self-medication. In fact, there is no specific medicine for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia. If vulvar leukoplakia is not treated in time in the early stage, it is very likely to become cancerous. Currently, laser, surgery and drug treatments can be used. It is recommended to listen to the advice of professional doctors as to which method is suitable.

Is there any specific medicine for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia?

In the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia, there is no clear answer as to what medicine can completely cure the disease, but the specific treatment effect varies from person to person. Also, due to the relatively long course of the disease, the treatment needs to be persisted for a long time and regular follow-up should be done, and the follow-up time is preferably 3 to 6 months.

Current traditional treatment methods:

(1) Surgical resection: From the perspective of Western medicine, vulvar leukoplakia is a precancerous lesion that may develop into vulvar cancer, so surgical resection is the treatment. Its disadvantages are that it causes trauma, sexual life is greatly affected after surgery, and the recurrence rate is high, over 80%.

(2) Laser: The efficacy is unreliable and it can easily aggravate atrophy. This is because vulvar leukoplakia is caused by various factors that obstruct the nutritional pathways of the vulva and cause localized lack of nutrients. Laser aggravates the loss of nutrients, thereby aggravating the atrophy of the fissures.

(3) Oral medication: The journey is long. Once the medication enters the body, it goes from the stomach, intestines, and intestinal wall to the blood, liver, and all parts of the body. At each "checkpoint" the drug must resist attack by digestive juices, or cross membrane barriers, or must avoid enzymes that grind the drug into useless fragments. Therefore, after passing through each checkpoint, the oral medication has very little drug ingredients left when it reaches the diseased site. In addition, the pathological obstacles of vulvar leukoplakia in the surrounding nutritional channels (and drug channels) make it difficult for oral medication to enter the diseased site, so the effect is poor.
