Why does the vaginal discharge look like snot?

When the leucorrhea becomes thick and sticky like snot, it is a sign that there is disease in the body. Every time a woman discharges leucorrhea, she should check the amount and color of the discharge to understand her physical condition. If the leucorrhea is yellow, it means inflammation; if it is red, it may be bleeding; and if it is like snot, it is caused by dampness and heat inside the body. Closely observe the color of leucorrhea and treat the disease in time.

What is the cause of leucorrhea like snot?

Gynecologists point out that leucorrhea that resembles nasal discharge is mostly caused by infections, such as trichomoniasis, uterine inflammation, and other diseases. It is recommended that women go to a regular hospital for examination as soon as possible to confirm the type of disease and receive symptomatic treatment. Different manifestations of abnormal leucorrhea:

1. Abnormal leucorrhea caused by pathological reasons: manifested as changes in the color, quality and quantity of leucorrhea: although the appearance of viscous leucorrhea is also colorless and transparent, it is large in quantity and sticky in quality. It is common in women with weak constitution or caused by the use of estrogen drugs.

2. Bean curd-like leucorrhea: The leucorrhea appears in small pieces like bean curd dregs or curd-like pieces. It is caused by fungal infection and is often accompanied by vulvar itching.

3. If there is varying amounts of blood mixed in the leucorrhea, it may be caused by severe illness or an intrauterine contraceptive device. If it occurs for a long time or the amount of bleeding gradually increases, you should be alert to the possibility of cancer.

4.泔: This kind of leucorrhea is caused by necrosis and degeneration of diseased tissue in the uterine cavity, cervix or fallopian tube. A careful gynecological examination should be performed to rule out the possibility of cancer.

5. It has a bad smell and is yellow or yellow-green in color, caused by purulent infection or Trichomonas.

Many women have an increased risk of developing gynecological diseases due to lifestyle and other factors. If you have abnormal leucorrhea, if it is similar to nasal discharge or other symptoms, you should go to a regular hospital for examination in time to avoid delaying the disease and missing the good opportunity for treatment.

Clinical manifestations of abnormal leucorrhea

1. Purulent leucorrhea. The color is yellow or yellow-green, mucus or foamy, and has a foul odor. It is mostly caused by vaginal inflammation, among which Trichomonas vaginitis is the most common, and is often accompanied by vulvar itching. It can also be seen in chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, uterine effusion or foreign bodies in the vagina.

2. Cheese-like or tofu-like leucorrhea. Most of them are typical phenomena of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching.

3. Bloody leucorrhea, leucorrhea mixed with blood. Be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal myoma, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis, etc. can also cause bloody leucorrhea. A small amount of bloody leucorrhea caused by intrauterine contraceptive device is also common.

4. Yellow watery leucorrhea. It is mostly caused by necrosis of diseased tissue. If there is a large amount of purulent and foul-smelling vaginal discharge, advanced cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, or submucosal myoma with infection should be considered first. Those with paroxysmal discharge should be aware of the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.

5. Urinary dysfunction accompanied by increased leucorrhea. In typical gonococcal infection, the amount of leucorrhea and urethral secretions may increase and be yellow and purulent. The leucorrhea caused by chlamydia is less viscous and there is an increase in white serous cervical secretions.
