What are the precautions for in vitro ovulation induction?

The most important thing in the process of in vitro fertilization is ovulation induction. Only by doing a good job of ovulation induction can the health of the embryo be guaranteed. Therefore, when inducing ovulation in vitro, you should pay more attention to some related matters. Only after understanding these can you maintain a good mentality in the subsequent process. The following will explain to you in detail some of the precautions for in vitro ovulation induction.

1. The medication time and dosage should be appropriate

Generally, there is an ovulation induction process before in vitro fertilization, and some ovulation induction drugs can be used to induce ovulation. At the beginning, you should start with a small effective dose, and then adjust the dose or extend the duration of medication based on the reaction after taking the medication. Ovulation-inducing drugs must be used under the guidance and observation of a doctor and not blindly, in order to ensure the ovulation-inducing effect and avoid the side effects of the drugs. During the medication process, some observations and examinations should be performed according to the situation, such as measuring basal body temperature, blood prolactin level, urine pregnancy test, etc., to determine whether ovulation or conception has occurred.

2. Take a small amount of estrogen

Most ovulation-inducing drugs achieve the purpose of inducing ovulation through hormonal changes caused by feedback from the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis. When using clomiphene citrate, human chorionic gonadotropin and other treatments, the follicles must have a certain development and be able to secrete a certain amount of estrogen. Generally, the estrogen level in vaginal smear should be above the mild effect level in order to successfully induce ovulation. In some young women, if the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis is immature and the estrogen level is low, they can first take a small amount of estrogen, less than 0.5 mg per day, cyclically to stimulate the development and maturation of the hypothalamus, laying the foundation for the next step of using ovulation-inducing drugs. Start taking folic acid and vitamin E three or six months before ovulation induction. These two may improve egg quality. Of course, you can simply supplement with a multivitamin for prenatal care. Because if most people want to prepare for pregnancy, doctors will also recommend taking multivitamins for prenatal care 6 months in advance.

3. Physical management

Because multiple follicles develop simultaneously during the ovulation induction process, the ovaries are significantly enlarged, ovarian activity increases, and ovarian torsion is more likely to occur. Therefore, you should avoid strenuous activities, rapid bending, rapid turning, rapid turning over from a supine position, sudden emptying of an overfilled bladder, or active bowel movements such as diarrhea and constipation.

If you experience sudden, paroxysmal dull or severe pain in the lower abdomen that gradually worsens and is accompanied by nausea and vomiting, you should be alert to the possibility of ovarian torsion and seek medical attention promptly.
