Down syndrome screening report to determine the gender

Down syndrome screening is a method of testing whether the fetus has congenital defects and cannot distinguish between men and women. If parents are eager to know the gender of the fetus, they can observe the β-HCG and AFP values to make a rough judgment, but the results are not guaranteed to be accurate.

First look at the MOM value of β-HCG:

Below 0.4, most of them are boys;

Above 1.0, most of them are girls;

It is close to between 0.4 and 1.0, which is the critical value range, and it is possible for both men and women.

Then, the combined values of the two markers (β-HCG and AFP) are more accurate:

The lower the β-HCG MOM value (<04=""afp=""mom="">1), the more likely it is a boy;

The higher the MOM value of β-HCG (>0.8) and the lower the MOM value of AFP (<1), the more likely it is that the baby is a girl.

In addition, in the blood cells of Down syndrome children and Down syndrome positive children, regardless of whether the fetus is a boy or a girl, the β-HCG value is higher, but the AFP value is slightly lower.

Is the Down syndrome screening result accurate in determining the gender of a child?

Down syndrome screening determines the function of the placenta based on the pregnant mother's female hormones and has nothing to do with determining whether the baby is a boy or a girl. Many people say that being able to determine the gender of a child based on the results of Down syndrome screening is just a sharing of experience, there is no scientific evidence, and it is only for reference.

It is not reliable to test the gender of a baby based on the Down syndrome screening results. Regarding the prediction of whether a baby will be a boy or a girl, you should understand the following aspects:

1. At present, the only accurate and reliable way to identify the sex of a fetus is to look at the fetus's sexual organs through B-ultrasound or to do amniocentesis to test the sex chromosomes.

2. In addition, those B-ultrasound data flow analysis, uterine surface curettage flow, uterine height flow, abdominal shape flow, early gestational sac shape flow, Down syndrome screening data flow analysis, pregnancy reaction flow, fetal movement flow, fetal growth spurt flow, etc. are all fallacies that seem to make sense. They have no scientific basis and are all martial arts experience. It's essentially the same as "sour boy, spicy girl".

3. If you really want to know the gender of the fetus, the most feasible and accurate way at present is to find an ultrasound doctor based on the relevant information. But doctors will not tell you at this stage, because every hospital has relevant regulations, strictly managing the results of traditional B-ultrasound to determine the gender of the patient. Everyone is equal, and it is equally good to have a boy or a girl.
