What is a pregnancy cervical check?

Generally speaking, women who find out they are pregnant need to have regular physical examinations to learn about the development of the fetus. Cervical examination is generally not necessary after pregnancy, but you can still go for the examination so that you can better understand your physical condition. The significance of cervical examination mainly includes vaginal examination, probe examination, angiography examination and so on.

The significance of cervical examination

1. Vaginal examination

Check the position of the cervix, the size and shape of the external opening, the amount and nature of secretions, the presence of cervical erosion, etc. At the same time, use bacteriological examination to examine the cervical mucus, and perform scraping or colposcopy when necessary.

2. Probe inspection

Detect the direction and length of the cervical canal and its ratio to the cervix to see if there are any abnormalities, adhesions, stenosis, etc. For patients with suspicious abnormalities, further angiography should be performed.

3. Angiography

Lesions of the uterus and fallopian tubes can be detected through contrast examination, and contrast examination can also have a beneficial effect on the study of infertility. Endocervical vegetation, congenital malformations, stenosis, adhesions, and uterine torsion can all be diagnosed.

Cervical examination precautions

1. Check the time

The examination should be done away from the menstrual period, and it is best to choose the period between the end of menstruation and before ovulation.

2. Pay attention to your dress

On the day of the examination, you should wear clothes that are comfortable for examination; a skirt of moderate length is the best choice.

3. No sex

Do not have sex the night before the examination, because the man's semen and the spermicide on the condom may appear in the test sample the next day and interfere with the doctor's judgment.

4. Take a shower

You should take a shower the night before the examination and avoid washing the inside of the vagina within 24 hours before the examination.

5. Do not use any vaginal medications

Do not use any vaginal medications the night before the test. Any medications for treating vaginal infections or lubricants may affect the test samples, cover abnormal cells, and affect the test results.

Does a cervical examination hurt? Does a cervical examination hurt?
