How to treat nipple suppuration effectively

Nipple suppuration is a relatively common symptom of disease. For women, nipple problems can cause great inconvenience. For example, wearing underwear will be affected, breast milk will be affected, etc. Therefore, nipple problems must be resolved in time. Let’s take a look at how to treat nipple suppuration. I hope women can understand this.

Symptoms and signs:

It often manifests as breast abscess, which may present as local pain and mass, but often without local redness, swelling, throbbing pain, or fever and other systemic manifestations. The course of sepsis and bacteremia enters the stage of acute suppurative mastitis, and the patient may develop sepsis and bacteremia. At this time, the patient continued to have a high fever and his face was flushed. Mobile abscesses may occur; during the formation stage of breast fistula abscess, the abscess may rupture inward or outward, forming skin breaks and breast fistulas.

Treatment of the pre-abscess stage:

(1) Suspend breastfeeding on the affected breast to avoid affecting the health of the baby; at the same time, take measures to promote smooth discharge of milk and eliminate factors causing milk stasis.

(ii) Local physical therapy and hot compress are beneficial to the early dissipation of inflammation.

(III) Local blockade: can promote the dissipation of early inflammation.

(IV) Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine: Mainly focusing on soothing the liver, clearing away heat, resolving stagnation and promoting lactation.

(V) Systemic anti-infection: application of antibiotics.

Treatment of abscess formation:

The treatment is mainly based on incision and drainage to remove the pus. The key is to prevent and treat milk stasis, avoid nipple damage, and keep the area clean. In the later stages of pregnancy, you should frequently wash your nipples with warm soapy water; if the nipples are inverted, they can generally be corrected by frequently squeezing and pulling them. Nipples should be cleaned after breastfeeding. If you find your nipples are damaged or cracked, seek prompt treatment. Pay attention to your baby's oral hygiene and treat oral inflammation in time. It is important to develop good breastfeeding habits, such as regular breastfeeding and letting the baby sleep without the nipple. The milk should be completely sucked out during each breastfeeding session. If there is any congestion, a breast pump or massage can be used to help drain the milk.
