HCG and progesterone are not consistent. Progesterone continues to rise, while HCG increases very quickly in the serum during early pregnancy, doubling in about 1.7-2 days. The serum concentration reaches its peak at 8-10 weeks of pregnancy, and continues until 12 weeks. After that, it rapidly decreases and then maintains a certain level.
