Is serum hcg value a criterion for detecting pregnancy? How to detect it?

Pregnancy is a big event for women, especially married women who are particularly sensitive to pregnancy. It is a symbolic event for the family to welcome a new member. Some women are eager to know their pregnancy status and use artificial testing methods. For example, many women are keen to do serum HCG to check whether they are pregnant. So, is the serum HCG value a standard for detecting pregnancy? How to detect it?

The HCG blood test is currently the earliest and most accurate way to test whether a woman is pregnant. The HCG blood test is usually done 8-10 days after sexual intercourse to determine whether a woman is pregnant by drawing blood to test for HCG. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein secreted by trophoblast cells of the placenta and is composed of two subunits, a and b. hCG enters the maternal blood after fertilization and proliferates rapidly until the 8th week of pregnancy, then slowly decreases in concentration until the 18th to 20th week, and then remains stable. The HCG blood test is a quantitative test of HCG in the blood to understand whether pregnancy is possible.

Because different hospitals use different units for conversion, if the reference value of the progesterone test report you get is in ng/ml, you should convert it to nmol/L by multiplying it by 3.18. Please pay attention to the unit. The following is the reference value in nmol/L:

Progesterone reference value: 7 weeks of pregnancy: 52.7-100.1 nmol/L, 8 weeks of pregnancy: 64.6-113.8 nmol/L, 9-12 weeks of pregnancy: 78-159.2 nmol/L, 13-16 weeks of pregnancy: 98.3-185.7 nmol/L, 17-20 weeks of pregnancy: 153.8-241.2 nmol/L, 21-24 weeks of pregnancy: 234.6-457.4 nmol/L, 25-34 weeks of pregnancy: 403.4-626.2 nmol/L, after 35 weeks of pregnancy: 483.6-776.8 nmol/L

hcg reference value: pregnancy: 3-4 weeks: 9-130 (mIU/ml) pregnancy 4-5 weeks: 75-2600 pregnancy 5-6 weeks: 850-208003 pregnancy 6-7 weeks: 4000-100200 pregnancy 7-12 weeks: 11500-289000 pregnancy 12-16 weeks: 18300-137000 pregnancy 16-29 weeks: 1400-53000 pregnancy 29-41 weeks: 940-60000<

HCG and progesterone are not consistent. Progesterone continues to rise, while HCG increases very quickly in the serum during early pregnancy, doubling in about 1.7-2 days. The serum concentration reaches its peak at 8-10 weeks of pregnancy, and continues until 12 weeks. After that, it rapidly decreases and then maintains a certain level.
