What are the causes of inverted nipples?

The development of nipples determines whether women can breastfeed normally in the future. Some are caused by incomplete development of the mammary ducts, which fail to become ductalized and are instead pulled like a solid cord. Some are caused by a lack of supporting tissue deep in the nipple. For secondary inverted nipples, or inverted nipples caused by obvious reasons such as infection, surgery, or trauma, in addition to later plastic surgery and repair, the cause should be treated. However, if nipple inversion occurs without obvious cause, especially unilateral inversion, you should be alert to the occurrence of breast cancer.
