Can I get pregnant with low progesterone and ovulation?

Progesterone is a sex hormone secreted by females. If the progesterone level is abnormal, it will often show some symptoms and cause some diseases. For example, if the progesterone level is too low, it can easily lead to infertility in women and can also easily cause miscarriage in pregnant women. If the progesterone level is too low, you must emphasize nutrition and pay attention to treatment. Especially for pregnant women, you must go to the hospital for examination in time.

1. Ovulation helps increase the chance of pregnancy

Knowing the ovulation period can help women who are planning to have a baby increase their chances of pregnancy. When is the ovulation period? The ovulation period can be calculated according to the menstrual cycle. It is usually counted from the first day of the next menstrual period. Counting down 14 days or subtracting 14 days is the ovulation day. The 5 days before the ovulation day, the ovulation day, and the 4 days after the ovulation day, these three times add up to the ovulation period.

2. Calculation of ovulation period

For example, if the menstrual cycle is 30 days, and the first day of this menstruation is September 1st, then the next menstruation will be October 1st. Counting back 14 days from October 1st, September 17th is the ovulation day. The ovulation period is 5 days before ovulation, ovulation day, and 4 days after ovulation, which is the ten days from September 12th to September 21st.

3. Low progesterone levels mean a lower chance of pregnancy

Progesterone is a sex hormone produced by the ovaries, placenta, and adrenal cortex that can be used to determine ovarian and placental function. The presence or absence of ovulation can be determined by measuring the level of progesterone in the blood. After ovulation, progesterone levels rise. If the corpus luteum is insufficient, the level of progesterone in the luteal phase will be lower than normal; if the progesterone level is still higher than the physiological level 4-5 days after menstruation, it indicates incomplete corpus luteum atrophy.

If progesterone is too low, it will affect other hormone levels, which will also affect ovulation. But it is not absolute. Clinically, some patients have normal ovulation. Even with normal ovulation, low progesterone may lead to difficulty in implantation of the egg or early miscarriage. Therefore, if the progesterone level is low during ovulation, it is best to go to the hospital to identify the cause and receive early treatment.
