What should I do if I have frequent fever during confinement?

If you have frequent fevers during the confinement period and your body is accompanied by infection, and your body temperature persists at around 39 degrees, you should go to the hospital for a check-up in time. This is because some mothers do not take good care of themselves after delivery, and they may have a fever due to cold or wind. It may also be inflammation caused by postpartum infection, causing fever. These are all possible.

Cold during confinement

1. If you have a cough, it may be a respiratory infection. But you should go to a specialized hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

2. Inflammation of wounds, uterus, urinary tract or breasts is more common.

1. Wound infection: The perineal wound becomes inflamed or the wound causes inflammation of the endometrial layer.

2. Urinary tract inflammation may be caused by bacteria from the vulva entering the urinary system through the urethra, or by holding urine and drinking less water due to difficulty in urinating after childbirth, which can easily cause urinary tract infection.

3. Breast inflammation If a part of the breast becomes red, swollen, or painful, it may be breast inflammation and must be treated.

3. Another common cause of postpartum fever is excessive breast milk

The baby cannot eat enough or the milk is too thick and cannot flow out smoothly, so it accumulates in the mammary ducts and forms lumps; or the baby damages the nipple when sucking, allowing bacteria to invade and cause acute mastitis. Women with mastitis may have a fever of over 39°C, severe pain in the affected breast, redness, swelling, hardening and tenderness at the inflamed area, and later form an abscess. The longer the time, the more damage to the mammary lobules. Breast abscesses that are not treated promptly will eventually discharge pus and sometimes milk. Therefore, the wound will not heal for a long time, causing pain to the mother and not being conducive to the feeding of the newborn.

Therefore, mothers must not underestimate this slight fever, as it may cause complications of various conditions. If the above conditions are found, do not delay and should go to the hospital for treatment immediately.
