Oral lichen planus is a relatively common chronic disease. The characteristic of this disease is that it is easy to recur. Although it is not contagious, it is very harmful to the patient's life and work. It can cause great damage to the nervous system, often causing mental tension in patients, leading to insomnia, forgetfulness, etc. In addition, it has a great impact on the body's digestive system, often causing vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal distension, indigestion, etc. 1. Neurological symptoms About 40% of patients with complications caused by oral lichen planus have neurological diseases. The main manifestations are disorders of the autonomic nervous system, such as mental tension, insomnia, nightmares, forgetfulness, etc. In clinical practice, many patients suffer from illness or aggravation of their condition due to mental trauma. 2. Digestive system symptoms Among patients with oral lichen planus, about 20% have digestive system symptoms. The common symptoms are digestive disorders, such as diarrhea, abdominal distension, vomiting, indigestion or accompanied by diseases such as liver, kidney and duodenal ulcers. 3. Hypertension Clinically, patients with lichen planus have hypertension, accounting for about 10% of all patients. Some foreign scholars believe that oral lichen planus is closely related to hypertension. 4. Diabetes Data from foreign scholars show that diabetes is also one of the complications caused by oral lichen planus, accounting for about 10% of patients. Data in my country show that no more than 5% of the population suffers from diabetes, but clinically, when blood sugar and urine sugar increase, oral or skin conditions worsen. 5. Other systemic diseases Heart disease, arthritis, urinary system diseases, menstrual disorders in women, anemia, etc. all occur, and the incidence rate is approximately less than 10%. In conclusion, less than 10% of patients with oral lichen planus will develop systemic diseases. Research by domestic scholars showed that among 65 patients with oral lichen planus, 163 systemic diseases occurred, an average of four per person, and only 5 patients had no systemic diseases. |
