Is endometrial cancer contagious?

Is endometrial cancer contagious?

Endometrial cancer is a very harmful gynecological tumor. This disease is not contagious, but it is somewhat hereditary, with the hereditary ratio generally around 20%. Endometrial cancer, also known as uterine body cancer, is a relatively common malignant tumor that is particularly harmful. Regular follow-up examinations should be done, and if symptoms are found, timely treatment should be sought. In daily life, you should understand some symptoms, which will help better prevention.

Experts point out that endometrial cancer, also known as uterine body cancer, is a common gynecological malignant tumor, second only to cervical cancer, and is very harmful. Timely detection and treatment are necessary, and understanding the symptoms of endometrial cancer will help detect the disease in a timely manner.

1. Vaginal bleeding: Irregular vaginal bleeding is the main symptom of endometrial cancer patients, especially postmenopausal vaginal bleeding should be paid more attention. The amount of vaginal bleeding in women can be more or less. Vaginal bleeding is often caused by rupture of cancerous blood vessels, especially in esophageal cancer, where bleeding symptoms appear earlier and the amount is heavier. If bleeding occurs frequently, excessive blood loss can lead to severe anemia.

2. Increased vaginal discharge: It is also the main symptom of female endometrial cancer patients. It often occurs before vaginal bleeding. Initially, vaginal discharge may not have any odor. However, as the cancer grows, secondary infection and necrosis may occur, and the amount of discharge increases, like rice washing water or mixed with blood, and has a foul odor.

3. Pain: It is a symptom of advanced endometrial cancer in women. The cancer extends along the paravertebral tissues, invades the pelvic wall, and compresses the peripheral nerves. The clinical manifestations are persistent pain in the sciatic nerve or one side of the sacral or iliac region. Female cancer compresses or erodes the ureter, causing narrowing and obstruction of the ureter, leading to hydronephrosis, which manifests as unilateral low back pain or even severe pain, and further develops into renal failure and even uremia. Invasion of the lymphatic system leads to blockage of lymphatic vessels and obstruction of lymphatic return, resulting in symptoms such as lower limb edema and pain.

4. Systemic symptoms: Advanced patients develop fever due to the metabolism of cancer tissue, absorption of necrotic tissue or combined infection. The body temperature is generally around 38°C, and a few may reach above 39°C. Anemia, emaciation and even cachexia may occur due to bleeding and consumption.

If the above symptoms occur, the patient should go to a regular hospital for examination in time for timely diagnosis. Generally, patients with endometrial cancer should undergo the following examinations:

1. Hysteroscopy: If the curettage result is negative but the medical history suggests cancer, a hysteroscopy can be performed to directly visualize the endometrium. If a cancerous focus is found, its location, size, and growth pattern can be directly observed, and samples can be taken for pathological examination.

2. Segmental diagnostic curettage: Segmental diagnostic curettage is the main method of diagnosis. First use a small scraper ring to scrape the cervical canal, then enter the uterine cavity to scrape the uterine body and endometrium of the fundus in turn. Be careful during the operation to prevent uterine perforation. Especially when a large amount of okara-like tissue is scraped out and endometrial cancer is highly suspected, the operation should be stopped immediately. The scrapings were marked and sent for pathological examination.
