Don't neglect the fallopian tubes

This is the 3090th article of Da Yi Xiao Hu

When it comes to nurturing life, the first thing that comes to mind is the uterus. The uterus is the most beautiful "palace" of human beings, and there is no doubt about that. Because everyone knows that a new life has to spend ten months in the uterus, as the saying goes, "Ten months of pregnancy, one day of delivery." Without a uterus, without a properly developed and functioning uterus, nurturing life is just an empty talk, so the uterus is highly cared for.

However, it cannot be ignored that in the normal, natural process of conceiving life, the role of the fallopian tube is crucial and indispensable.

The fallopian tubes extend outward from the two corners of the uterus, and are about 8-14 cm long. According to their different shapes and functions, they are divided into the interstitial part, isthmus, ampulla, and fimbria. The fimbria is adjacent to the ovary, and the fallopian tubes and ovaries are also called the "appendages" of the uterus.

The anatomical characteristics, tissue structure, neural regulation, and physiological functions of the fallopian tube are all designed to facilitate human reproduction.

1. There is one fallopian tube on each side, one end of which is connected to the uterus, running along the upper end of the fallopian tube mesentery and extending toward the ovary. The umbrella part is free. The fallopian tube mesentery maintains its physiological position and function;

2. The isthmus of the fallopian tube is the narrowest part and the last "gate" to filter out bad sperm. The widest part of the fallopian tube creates a good, loose and comfortable "place" for the egg and sperm to embrace and combine, which is called the "ampulla";

3. The "umbrella" of the fallopian tube is like a "Buddha's hand", which can be stretched and retracted freely. Especially during the ovulation period, the "Buddha's hand" gently and gently touches the ovary, assisting the mature follicles to be discharged smoothly and picking them up, and transporting them to the "ampulla" of the fallopian tube to wait for the arrival of sperm;

4. The fallopian tube is composed of the serosal layer, the muscular layer, and the mucosal layer. Under the action of ovarian hormones and the control of the nervous system, the "bidirectional peristalsis" function is activated, peristalsis toward the umbrella part, helping the sperm to reach the ampulla and combine with the egg, and then peristalsis in the opposite direction of the uterus, helping the fertilized egg to reach the uterine cavity smoothly;

5. The mucous membrane layer of the fallopian tube is composed of four types of epithelial cells, including secretory cells and ciliated cells. Among them, the role of secretory cells is very important. The fluid secreted by them and the exudate of blood vessels together form the fallopian tube fluid, the main components of which are various albumins, glucose, potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, etc., which are almost the same as those in serum. It not only provides the necessary life substances for the egg to survive in the fallopian tube for 24-48 hours, but also provides the necessary life substances for the survival, movement, capacitation, fertilization of sperm and the survival of the fertilized egg.

6. The fertilized egg stays in the fallopian tube for about 4-5 days. The fallopian tube finally delivers the fertilized egg to the uterine cavity, thus completing its sacred mission.

We are born to be useful. The fallopian tube is irreplaceable in the process of natural reproduction of life. We must not neglect it, otherwise we will have to pay a price, sometimes a very high price. For example, chronic fallopian tube inflammation, fallopian tube oophoritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic tuberculosis, endometriosis, tumors, etc. can all lead to fallopian tube obstruction, or obstruction, which is the main cause of female infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain. What's more, once you suffer from fallopian tube cancer, if it is not discovered and treated in time, it will be life-threatening.

Paying attention to personal hygiene, hand hygiene, reproductive system hygiene, sexual hygiene, environmental hygiene, adhering to sexual ethics, regular health examinations, early treatment of diseases, and early prevention of diseases are the keys to ensuring the health of the fallopian tubes and reproductive system.
