What is the difference between bacterial and fungal vaginitis?

There are many types of vaginitis, including bacterial and candidal vaginitis. There are certain similarities and differences in symptoms between the two. For example, the typical symptoms of bacterial vaginitis are not prominent, and sometimes there will be increased vaginal discharge, which can cause vulvar itching. The main symptom of candidal vaginitis is increased vaginal discharge, which sometimes looks like tofu dregs and often causes extreme vulvar itching.

There are many types of vaginitis, bacterial vaginitis and candidal vaginitis are two of them. Many patients do not know the difference between bacterial vaginitis and candidal vaginitis, so it is difficult to figure out how to distinguish between the two diseases. Next, let us understand the differences between these two diseases.

Bacterial vaginosis does not have any prominent and typical symptoms. Patients may feel that they occasionally have excessive and thin vaginal discharge, and their vulva may be slightly itchy. Secondly, the acidity and alkalinity in the patient's vagina will increase, and there will be inflammatory cells and clue cells in the leucorrhea. The most prominent feature of bacterial vaginosis is that the patient's vaginal secretions will have a fishy ammonia odor, which often emanates, especially for patients who are experiencing the disease for the first time.

Candidal vaginitis is a vaginitis caused by the massive reproduction of fungi in the patient's vagina. Most patients suffer from this disease because of Candida albicans. The main symptom of this disease is an increase in vaginal discharge, which looks like tofu dregs, or may be white curd or watery. Patients often feel extreme itching and burning sensation in the vulva, and sometimes pain in the vaginal opening or urination, which is aggravated by sexual intercourse.

The above is the difference between bacterial vaginitis and candidal vaginitis. After reading this, I believe everyone can distinguish the difference between these two diseases. Therefore, if a female friend is infected with these two diseases, in addition to actively seeking treatment, she also needs to pay attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of her private parts, so that the patient can recover faster.
