Does menopause have a big impact on your sex life?

After the age of 45, women will gradually enter menopause and finally start menstruation. At this time, many women begin to refuse sex. The main reason for refusing sexual intercourse is because of pain, which will seriously affect the relationship between couples. In fact, moderate sexual intercourse is good for the health of women after menopause, and both husband and wife should coordinate this relationship.

The organs that carry out female sexual functions include the clitoris, vagina, etc., and menopause does not damage or reduce the functions of these organs. However, the ovaries of menopausal women are gradually shrinking, causing a decrease in estrogen secretion and a decrease in vaginal secretions, which can cause vaginal dryness to a certain extent.

But this is only the only impact of menopause on women's sexual life. Their sexual desire does not decrease because the male hormone level does not decrease significantly at this time. On the contrary, a decrease in estrogen may also lead to a relative increase in androgen, thereby enhancing sexual desire. This is why some women have a greater sexual desire after menopause.

Moreover, moderate sexual life will prolong the function of female sexual organs. The female vagina has very elastic muscles, which will atrophy if there is no sexual exercise for a long time. Professor Guan suggests that it is most appropriate for postmenopausal women to maintain a sexual frequency of 2 to 4 times a month.

Generally speaking, once women reach the age of 45 to 50, their menstrual cycles will stop. The number of eggs a woman has is fixed when she is born and does not increase during her lifetime. During each menstrual cycle, one or more oocytes are lost due to ovulation, and a large number of the remaining oocytes die.

By the time a woman is 50, her primordial follicles are mostly exhausted. After half a century of vicissitudes, the egg cells remaining in her body have become less sensitive to pituitary hormones, and because their number is so small, they cannot produce enough estradiol to stimulate the release of pituitary hormones. At this point, her menstruation will stop, and she will lose her fertility.
