What are the causes of amenorrhea in girls?

Generally, amenorrhea occurs in women who are in menopause. This is a normal physiological phenomenon. So what is the reason for amenorrhea in teenage girls? Amenorrhea in teenage girls is mainly related to congenital genital organ maldevelopment, such as atresia of the lower genital tract, or abnormal function of the pituitary and hypothalamus. In addition, tuberculous endometritis, or some more serious wasting diseases, can easily lead to amenorrhea in teenage girls.

1. Disease. It mainly includes wasting diseases, such as severe pulmonary tuberculosis, severe anemia, malnutrition, etc., unique endocrine diseases, such as "obesity reproductive incompetence malnutrition", etc.; the influence of some endocrine disorders in the body, such as dysfunction of the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, pancreas, etc. The influence of these reasons may cause menstruation to stop.

2. The reproductive organs are incomplete or underdeveloped. Some people are born without ovaries, have ovarian hypoplasia or ovarian necrosis, and cannot produce estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, the endometrium cannot undergo cyclical changes, and there will be no endometrial shedding, so there will be no menstruation.

3. Atresia of the lower reproductive tract. For example, there is congenital atresia in some parts of the cervix, vagina, hymen, labia, etc., or adhesive atresia caused by acquired damage. Although menstruation occurs, the menstrual blood cannot flow out. This condition is called hidden or pseudo-amenorrhea. Lower reproductive tract atresia can be completely cured with medical treatment.

4. Abnormal function of the pituitary gland or hypothalamus. The pituitary gland can secrete gonadotropin. Gonadotropin regulates ovarian function and maintains menstruation. If the pituitary gland is dysfunctional, it will affect the secretion of gonadotropin, which in turn affects the function of the ovaries. Abnormal ovarian function will cause amenorrhea. In addition, abnormal hypothalamic function can also cause amenorrhea. There are many causes of hypothalamic dysfunction, such as mental stimulation, sadness and worry, fear and anxiety, tension and fatigue, as well as environmental changes and cold stimulation. Amenorrhea caused by the hypothalamus is more common.

5. Tuberculous endometritis. This is because the tuberculosis bacteria invade the endometrium, causing inflammation of the endometrium and varying degrees of damage, eventually forming scar tissue and causing amenorrhea. Therefore, if you have tuberculous endometritis, you should seek treatment promptly without delay.
