The test paper is one deep and one shallow, and no gestational sac is found on B-ultrasound

The pregnancy test stick can show one or two bars. One bar means no pregnancy; two bars means pregnancy. However, many women who are preparing for pregnancy and lack knowledge of pregnancy have encountered the situation that the pregnancy test paper has one dark and one light when using the early pregnancy test paper. This makes them very upset. So what is the reason for the test paper to have one dark and one light and no gestational sac is seen on the B-ultrasound?

The pregnancy test stick may be dark and light for this reason

1. It may be an ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy occurs 6 days after sperm and egg fertilization. When the sperm and egg produce trophoblast layer, HCG can be produced. After the embryo implants, the HCG biochemical indicator can be detected. However, the test tube embryo does not continue to grow normally afterwards, the trophoblast dies, and it no longer works to produce HCG.

2. In the early stages of pregnancy, too little HCG is detected and no significant results are obtained

Because a woman's ovulation period is generally in the middle of two menstrual periods. For example, if the menstrual cycle is 28 days, the ovulation period may be around the 14th day. It takes about 7-10 days for the embryo to implant. HCG will be produced only after the embryo implants. However, the amount of HCG produced at the beginning is relatively small, and it will take at least a week to gradually increase. Roughly speaking, it will be more accurate to test for pregnancy after the next menstrual period. If you use the pregnancy test stick too early, there may be a deep and shallow phenomenon.

3. "Ectopic pregnancy" causes slightly lower HCG

"Ectopic pregnancy" refers to the abnormal pregnancy process in which the fertilized egg implants and develops outside the uterus. The most common one is "fallopian tube pregnancy".

During normal pregnancy, the secretion of HCG will increase rapidly. If the amount of β-HCG increases by more than 66% every two days, it can be diagnosed as intrauterine pregnancy; if the increased amount is less than 66%, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy or incomplete intrauterine pregnancy is very high. If the menstruation is delayed and the pregnancy test stick always shows one dark and one light, you should go for an ultrasound as soon as possible to see if the baby is developing normally.
