How to determine whether the follicle is ovulating? This is the professional method!

In order to increase the chance of conception, many women will pay special attention to their ovulation period during the pregnancy preparation stage, because the probability of pregnancy during ovulation will be greatly increased. Experts say that there are many ways to detect female ovulation. In addition to testing body temperature, more methods of determining ovulation are introduced below.

1. Changes in basal body temperature can indicate ovulation

The principle is this: progesterone can cause the body temperature to rise. After ovulation, a woman forms a corpus luteum, which secretes progesterone, which can raise the body temperature by 0.5℃. Clinically, the presence or absence of ovulation and corpus luteum function is judged based on changes in basal body temperature. Body temperature is affected by many factors. In the basic state, that is, the temperature measured under the tongue in the mouth immediately after waking up from sleep for 6 to 8 hours is relatively stable, so it is called basal body temperature. The disadvantage of basal body temperature is that it is affected by many factors, sometimes fluctuates greatly, and reflects the situation roughly. It is necessary to selectively refer to the results of hormone tests to more accurately understand ovarian function.

Second, you can observe ovulation through B-ultrasound

B-ultrasound monitoring of ovulation has the advantages of being non-destructive, convenient, having high detection rate and accuracy, and being able to record images for comparison. After taking ovulation-inducing drugs or during the natural cycle, it is best to use B-ultrasound to detect ovulation. B-ultrasound detection of ovulation can directly observe the development of follicles, whether ovulation occurs, and the responsiveness of the ovaries to ovulation drugs. It is currently the best way to observe ovulation. The specific method is to start from the 8th to 10th day of the menstrual cycle and observe the appearance and development of the dominant follicle until ovulation. At the same time, ultrasound monitoring can also clearly observe the thickness and morphology of the endometrium, which plays a certain role in predicting pregnancy.

3. How do you know if you are ovulating?

Ovulation is a normal physiological phenomenon in women. So how do you know if you are ovulating? Let’s take a look together below.

1. Ovulation symptoms

During the ovulation period, symptoms such as decreased appetite, increased energy, increased sexual desire, increased vaginal discharge, increased body temperature, and ovulation pain often occur. If there is no ovulation, the above symptoms will not occur.

2. Ovulation test strips

Ovulation test strips predict ovulation by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH). Ovulation occurs when the strong positive turns weak. If you find that the ovulation test paper turns from strong positive to weak, it means that ovulation will occur within 24 hours.

3. B-ultrasound follicle monitoring

If you want to know whether ovulation has occurred, you can use B-ultrasound to measure the size of the dominant follicle and the thickness of the endometrium.

4. Basal body temperature measurement

When a woman ovulates, the follicle ruptures and the estrogen level in the body drops sharply, causing the body temperature to drop. If the basal body temperature shows a biphasic change, that is, a high temperature period appears after a low temperature period and lasts for about 13-14 days, this indicates ovulation. On the contrary, if the low temperature persists, it is likely that ovulation is caused by insufficient luteal function.

5. Endocrine examination

The estrogen peak before ovulation triggers a positive feedback loop, resulting in a peak in luteinizing hormone. Ovulation occurs about 36 hours after the peak, and luteinizing hormone drops sharply at ovulation. After ovulation, blood is drawn about a week before menstruation to check hormone levels.
