How are uterine fibroids formed?

Many female friends will develop uterine fibroids when they reach their thirties or forties. Their abdomen will bulge slightly, accompanied by mild pain, menstrual disorders, and excessive secretions. These are all symptoms of uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids need to be treated immediately, but there are many factors that cause uterine fibroids, which may be related to genetic inheritance and diet, so you should pay more attention to it in your daily life.

1. How do uterine fibroids occur?

1. General elements:

1.) Age: Uterine fibroids mostly occur in women aged 30-50 years old, rarely in puberty. Uterine fibroids shrink or disappear after menopause.

2. Obesity: Obesity can cause metabolic disorders in the human body, lead to estrogen deficiency, cause irregular menstruation, affect ovulation, and increase the risk of uterine fibroids.

3.) History of pregnancy and miscarriage: Women who have never been pregnant are more likely to develop uterine fibroids than women who have been pregnant, and the age of onset is earlier, mainly because menstruation increases estrogen.

4.) Smoking and drinking: Smoking and drinking can easily cause uterine fibroids.

2. Female hormones:

1.) Low estrogen: The conversion of estradiol to estrone in uterine fibroids is significantly lower than that in normal muscle tissue. The concentration of estrogen receptors in uterine fibroids is higher than that in nearby muscle tissue. The high sensitivity of uterine fibroid tissue to estrogen is one of the key factors in the formation of uterine fibroids.

2.) Low estrogen. Estrogen has the effect of promoting mitosis of uterine fibroids and stimulating the growth of uterine fibroids. If a woman's body estrogen level is low, it is very likely to cause uterine fibroids.

3. Genetic factors: 25%-50% of uterine fibroids have abnormalities in cell biology. Uterine fibroids are derived from the proliferation of smooth muscle cells, and multiple uterine fibroids are produced by different replicative cells. The genetic probability of these two is very high.

2. Symptoms of uterine fibroids

1. Abnormal uterine bleeding.

It is a more obvious symptom of uterine fibroids. Regular bleeding is the most common type. The main manifestations are often increased menstrual volume, increased and decreased menstrual cycles, and sometimes irregular vaginal bleeding.

2. There is a mass or compression in the lower abdomen.

Generally, uterine fibroids are very large, and you can find a lump by touching your lower abdomen before defecation in the morning. This is especially true for large subserosal fibroids located at the fundus of the uterus. When uterine fibroids are around the bladder, they can cause symptoms such as inability to hold urine, frequent urination, and urgency to urinate. Some fundus uterine fibroids may even cause constipation.

3. Excessive vaginal discharge.

Because uterine fibroids cause the uterine cavity to expand, the uterine wall gland ducts increase, and the pelvis is hematoma, the secretions will increase.

4. Pain.

This situation rarely occurs, because uterine fibroids do not cause pain in most cases, and only a very small number of patients will experience lower abdominal pain and back pain.

5. Infertility and miscarriage.

This is related to the location and size of the uterine fibroids, but the probability of this happening is very small.

6. Anemia.

Because uterine fibroids cause excessive menstrual flow or frequent non-menstrual bleeding, over time they can cause hemorrhagic anemia. This type of uterine fibroids is usually cervical fibroids.
