Can I use moxibustion on my abdomen during menstruation?

For women, various uncomfortable symptoms are prone to occur during menstruation, or they often have irregular menstruation problems. It is not recommended to use moxibustion during this period, especially during the menstrual period. If you want to use moxibustion to treat dysmenorrhea, it is recommended to do it a few days before the start of menstruation.

1. Moxibustion is one of the ancient external treatments. Its principle is to warm the Qi and blood, strengthen the body and eliminate evil, and regulate the functions of internal organs, so as to delay aging, strengthen the body, and reduce aging. Common female diseases such as dysmenorrhea and menstrual disorders can also be prevented and treated through moxibustion.

2. Moxibustion is used to treat dysmenorrhea, which is mainly aimed at dysmenorrhea caused by no lesions in women's organs. Before moxibustion, you must first clarify what causes dysmenorrhea, then find the correct acupoints and treat it symptomatically.

3. The method of moxibustion for treating dysmenorrhea is to take Zhongji point (one inch above the navel) and Guanyuan, Qihai, Sanyinjiao and other acupoints. When taking the acupoints on the abdomen, you can adopt a supine position, place ginger slices about 3 mm on the acupoints on the abdomen, take a small amount of moxa and put it on the ginger slices, light it and then apply moxibustion. If you feel the temperature is too high, you can move the position slightly to avoid scalding the skin. For Sanyinjiao, you can use the suspended moxibustion method, start a few days before the start of menstruation, and continue moxibustion for several days after the menstruation stops. Moxibustion each acupoint for 20 to 30 minutes.

4. If it is irregular menstruation, you can choose Sanyinjiao acupoint (3 inches above the inner ankle), Guanyuan acupoint, Qihai acupoint and Zusanli acupoint, and use moxa stick hanging moxibustion.

5. Moxibustion for treating dysmenorrhea adjusts the body's functions through the unique smell and warm stimulation of moxa leaves, thereby relieving reflex spasms of uterine muscles, relieving spasms, promoting blood circulation, and relieving pain.
